Skate session on 8" of new powder on top of hard pack and glare ice.
Skis waxed with CH8 and tried out the new riller - seemed to work. Wasn't fast, but no sense of suction dragging. Soft where it hadn't been skidded off. Grooming was narrow, and a lot of traffic going down the Cobble S curve had scraped it down pretty well - quite a few spills and folks diving off into the deep stuff.

XC Ski - Classic 36:12 intensity: (3:37 @0) + (5:34 @1) + (26:39 @2) + (22 @3) 4.91 km (7:22 / km) +82m 6:48 / km

Swapped equipment to classic - thought the Skintecs would be the best bet for today, but they were just so-so. Kick was really hit or miss, so did a lot of double poling.
Had rilled the tips and tails on these as well - had also been waxed with CH8, so they were gliding about as well as the skate skis.

Scratched up snow over ice and rock-hard stuff. NO set tracks, but still did a lot of double-poling. Tough to skate in many sections with skis just sliding out from under me.
Only time I fell was when I took off my skis to walk down the Cobble S curve - probably could have skied down it, but there were a couple of sections of just ice - both feet slipped right out from under me.

Weeks Woods - A bit of a slog, as things have been warm, so the hard pack snow was soft enough that I was postholing now and then, as well a slipping on the loose stuff.
Some trails hadn't been traveled yet and with the numerous logging cuts, it was not impossible to be bewildered at a few points.
Downhills were fun, but the uphills took a bit of effort.

XC Ski (Double pole) 35:43 intensity: (1:55 @0) + (11:49 @1) + (15:29 @2) + (6:30 @3) 7.04 km (5:05 / km) +63m 4:51 / km

Trails were rock hard, with the previously soft and wet snow transformed into an impenetrable sheet of slightly textured iceness.
Started by trying to skate up the powerlines, but it was treacherous. Since there were tracks, quickly changed to it being a double pole session. That worked pretty well - made me feel like I was prepping for the Masters Champs and double poling everywhere along narrow trails.
Made passes back and forth along Longbow and Quiver - sections of flat and grades of uphill. Downhills were a test of staying in the tracks - ice is slick and fast.
