Trail maintenance on the Benjamin Weeks Trail - mostly raking leaves out of waterbars. Other than the oaks, most leaves are down. Got started later than desired, so only made it up partway. When I stopped to pull on my headlamp for the descent in the Dim to Very Dark, realized my cell phone was not on the breast strap of my pack. Stopped at every place I'd raked out leaves, poking though them hoping to catch a glimpse of it. And of course, it was at the last place I'd looked - sitting right in the middle of the trail where I'd taken my pack off earlier to muscle a large flat rock into a low wet spot that needed a stepping stone. Had been planning on running down, but with so many leaves down on top of damp ground and rocks, opted for the safer fast walk. Barred owls hooting in the distance provided nice eerie background music for the adventure.
