Orienteering race 27:32 [3] 4.99 km (5:31 / km) +42m 5:18 / km

Bristol Uni Halls - Long Sprint

Mmmmm!!! lost at least 4 minutes - not good - speed not bad when it went ok

I blame all the lovely girls in their lovely dresses off to the ball..... very off-putting

Good course planned by Ben Mitchell - and glad he kept it in the halls/school/botanical gardens area

Impressive run by Burley given he did his marathon at weekend - he was racing Geoff though ;-)

Orienteering 41:14 [3] 5.68 km (7:16 / km) +154m 6:24 / km

British Relay Championships - Brown Clee - M40+ - Leg 3

Went off in the lead after Geoff had a stormer on first leg and Ifor had a good run - needed more of a lead as my run was pretty dreadful again!!

Much nicer bit of Brown Clee as you could actually run, so enjoyed that part of it and looking at splits when I got it right I was actually pretty quick

Steady start not wanting to mess it up - 1-3 ok -

Came out of 3 up hill instead of down and ended up at crossing point to north (very silly!!) - 1 min

6 - overshot slightly as was too high - 20 secs

7 - overshot, hit ride - control seemed to be too far from ride in any case and had to go around a large fallen tree on way back - 1 min

by far the quickest on my gaffle from 8 - 12 (up the hill!!) - saw Ben S for first time here and he had a slightly shorter gaffle

13 - stopped short as hit what I thought was the ride, turned out it was an unmapped ride, just a mapped ditch!! - struggled to work it out until saw the wooded obvious moorland/wood boundary which was to north of control - punched a bit after Nick Barrable (his first leg runner Al Buckley had lost 8 minutes on this control on leg 1!!) - 2:45

18 - stopped short and then couldn't work out which ditch I was on - and dropped a little low - 1:50

19 - dropped too low again - 20 secs

Total time lost c. 7 mins - time behind winning team 6:34 (bugger!!)

Guess I should see positives - running ok and got on the podium (would have taken third beforehand, but could have been a win - but then again SYO could say that with AB losing 8 mins on that one control!!!)

British Long Distance Championships - Brown Clee - M45

Started badly and felt iffy and a bit dizzy, fell a few times on way to first control - messed up nearly all the first 7 or 8, lost interest, couldn't work out map, got bored of the tussocks - generally rubbish!!!

Amazingly I got a quickest leg by 5 seconds (23-24) which was of course up hill and on a nice runnable ride
