Midland Champs - Bentley
Legs were shot after yesterday and right hamstring felt very sore jogging to start (was probably the sitting, waiting for the food for so long at the restaurant last night - as glues felt dreadful then and could have done with some stretching and rolling), so knew it wasn't going to be a good day.
Went right out of 3 which was a big mistake as ended in some awful brambles - 1 min
Slightly oveshot 7 - 30 seconds
Ended up on wrong path out of 7 and wrong side of pond and then slow into control - 45 secs
10 - ok to circle then case of seek the knoll as it was disguised as a pile of bracken, just like all the other piles of bracken nearby - 30 seconds
11 - drifted left half way to control - 30 secs
13 - stupid control site - missed it and was stood in what I thought was clearing and didn't see control - then carried on a bit further and hit path, came back, still didn't see control and was cursing and swearing when someone else arrived, also stood still for a few seconds, until he spotted control about 5m away!! - 1 min
14 - didn't really notice gap in OOB across field until too late - think this was to catch you out - also I bet the course was not measured as per BO Rule 2.12 (here or at the lake!) - 45 secs
Otherwise just felt I was jogging (heart rate lower than normal for race) - but most of the woods were lovely and runnable
