Orienteering race 44:21 [3] 6.83 km (6:30 / km) +105m 6:02 / km
shoes: VJ I-Rock 2

JK Middle Distance - Ambersham Common

Achilles felt sore first thing in morning but eased off and felt OK on jog to start.

Pretty easy first 8 controls - although far slower route (straight) to 7 than I for who was a minute quicker using the old rail line to north.

No.9 - drifted right out of 8, then again after control in pit north of ours - found myself in what felt like a large depression with a tape in it... Not sure where I was exactly until I saw James Logue to my left leaving control! - 2 mins

No. 10 - missed control as was looking to left! Was heading back out to path when stumbled across it - 45 seconds

11. -12 got stuck in crap and bailed out to path - 1 min

14 - didn't see open strip and nearly ended up back on road - 30 seconds

15. - slightly left and hit line of gullies - 20 secs

19. - slightly left - 20 secs

22. - poor route around path - not helped by control being higher up spur than expected - 30 secs

Orienteering race 17:21 [3] 3.69 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: On Cloudracer

JK Sprint - Brunel University

Felt OK warming up and set off from start with aim to push as hard as possible - felt a twinge in Achilles to no.1 so slowed a little - nothing later and seemed to ease off so pushed a bit harder.

Felt a little scrappy at times, but only a few 10-15 sec losses by looks of it.

No 10 - almost went to wrong side but stopped myself in time..

No.11 - hesitant out of control and then overshot thicket slightly

Not sure on a couple of route choices

17th - 1:57 down on James Logue

Note

Was going to get out today for easy loosener, but still feel Achilles slightly (although it may be in the mind) - I should be nicely rested up for JK I guess

Chiltern Challenge - Hambleden - Short Brown

Right Achilles was feeling slightly sore warming up, so wasn't expecting much and got worse when came out of no.2 north instead of east and ran across the wrong fields. After that didn't really try and still pretty scrappy.... far too hot and the course seemed to be planned to get you to climb as much as possible........

Dipped feet in River Avon on way home, which was very cold (had been tempted for a swim, but it was too cold!)...Achilles feels ok, so should be fine for next weekend with an easy week
