Note
(rest day)

Went for a massage in Chippenham and I had a better explanation for what was going on with my hips/back than I have had before..... it appears that my issue stems from my left hip abductor - and the current issues are likely a result of over compensating - given some stretches to do.....

WHICH I MUST DO TWICE A DAY!!!!

Orienteering race 43:35 [3] 8.45 km (5:09 / km) +141m 4:46 / km

BOK Urban Series #1 - Stoke Bishop - Long Course 6.2km

Good fun course to start the series off, but I was a bit 'scrappy'..... had seen Tommi go back through the start to no. 1, so did the same (he had seen Gavin do it too) and beat him (and Gavin) by 1 second and Phil by 6 secs, although lost all that on no.2 as hadn't worked out where to go next!!

9-10 stopped to do shoe lace up, and route poor (1 min)

14-15 - came out of 14 and ran straight down cul-de-sac, rather than the road I should have been on!! (1 min)

19 - overshot on path and then searching a bit before seeing depression - was probably expecting to see control - 30 secs

23 -24 went up wrong path/road and then turned too early back into halls - and ended up inadvertently in some big hugging event where control 26 had been removed - all looked a bit weird, so got out quickly - 1 min

27-28 headed SE in car park rather than back out to path and then retraced back - 20 secs

Was holding back a little bit from about third way round as calf/Achilles was niggling still - seems a bit of an odd one, as no soreness really after. Massage tomorrow will hopefully help.

9th I believe - Eddie did just under 36 - luckily managed to beat Gavin, but only by 10 seconds

Amesbury Urban Race - Vet 40+/Women's Open

Started quickly and felt pretty good , the odd seconds hesitancy here and there but nothing major apart from no.10 where I rushed out of control to get away from guy I caught here and turned left before realisong there was no route that way (10 secs), quickly over took him again only to lose time on an iffy mapped small path.... it was shown as coming out onto a paved area, but went down what I thought was path, whick looked like it disappeared behind a fence.. went back and down path a little further but no otger path...went back and turned out it was correct path (35 secs).

Coming out of 12 (with that guy again) - dog legged, but then realised that there was far too much climb that way, so returned passed the control westward (30 secs)

No.16 - poor route (10 secs)

Only other significant time loss (10 seecs) was getting stuck on fence between last control and finish!

Good fun, but timed out road crossings were a bit odd as was same crossing point, but two sets of controls a short distance from crossing.

Looks like I slowed in second half as left achilles a little sore - was 31 seconds up at no.10 and 1:07 up on Richard B

3rd.... 3:11 behind Richard Barrett and 0:17 behind Peter Suba.
