Orienteering race 53:23 [3] 10.31 km (5:11 / km) +159m 4:48 / km

Bilbao City Race - M35+

Good course in a nice city, with finish by Guggenheim Museum

1-2 - missed steps - so ended up going around a bot further than necessary - put this down to poor mapping as it looks to me as if steps go to a solid wall - 35 secs

7-8 - another bit of iffy mapping which confused me, but just hesitation and a few seconds lost. There was a canopy marked at street level I was on that looks like you can go through to bridge, but in fact this was in the building next level up!! - 10 secs

9-10 - bit of a silly leg really as it was just asking for people to cheat (twice) with out of bounds roads...... I think I took the optimum (legal) route and was running sub 4min/km, but was 54th on leg!!!! It was tricky to work out the optimum, but without physical barriers far too many people looked like they must have cheated! - 3:01 slower than fastest on leg - I took 5:41 and may have lost possibly 20 secs through hesitation, nothing more!!!

11-12 - I just can't descent step or steep hills!!! lost so much time on this leg, because of this - the steps were about 160m long - also messed up leg at bottom which didn't help as carried straight on instead of turning right - 1:30

23-24 Didn't see road crossing marked on map initially and started to cross bridge - luckily then saw it otherwise would nave been much bigger loss - 30 secs
