Mainly uphill jog to start
1 PM

Orienteering race 50:18 [3] 6.23 km (8:04 / km) +255m 6:42 / km

Clevedon Court - Green

Very enjoyable run in a lovely small bit of woods, even in the rain
Seemed to lose more time than I thought, where I did make mistakes

No. 3 - Seemed a lot longer than expected and drifted too far right - came across path/bank crossing and took a while to work out I had gone nowhere near as far as I thought - 40 secs

No. 4 - hot a large depression, thinking it was one of the three mapped ones, with control in middle, turned right, no more depressions, went back other way, no more depressions - carried on another 10 metres and found the 3 (smaller) depressions - 1:20

No. 11 - thought I took a good line, but ended up much furtehr left of control than expecting and couldn't quite match the map - 1:10

No. 12 - slightly left - 15 secs

No. 13 - overshot very slightly - 30 secs

No. 16 - took wrong path in quarry initialy - 30 secs

Orienteering 23:00 [3] 2.77 km (8:18 / km) +100m 7:02 / km

Control Collecting

Biggest error of the day - got back to car and counting up to make sure I got them all and saw a control on far east of map which had not been on our course, which I had missed as map was folded..... so had to go for that one after!!

Achilles a little bit sore, so no night event tonight, just rugby (dull game, but at least England won!)

Running race 43:50 [3] 8.54 km (5:08 / km) +271m 4:26 / km

Piercefield Park Night Race

Started very steady and quite far back, as waned to see how Achilles was - possibly a bit too far back.

Felt ok so found a nice steady pace and was racing a young lad from FoD for a large part of race. Overtaken on downhill after water features by 2nd Lady, but stayed jus behind her on first part back on Wye Valley path - overtook her just before steps - then felt good up last hill and overtook about 4 more - although the MDC guy just pipped me on line with a sprint my aged legs couldn't match

32nd - quite happy with this and think it was another step forward

Running 1:12:45 [3] 12.21 km (5:57 / km) +344m 5:13 / km

First part od Dursley Dozen route with Tim, Gareth, Brad and Haydn - snow coming down more towards the end

Ankle/achilles generally ok, but was being very tentative on the downhills and rougher stuff, where I could occasionally feel it..... no pain at all when on the smooth bits - absolutely no problems on roads - maybe I should become a road runner instead (or possibly not!!)

Light was playing up a bit, not sure of it is a loose connection or was not properly charged

Nice route and a couple of new paths I think

Ankle/achilles fine this morning too (7th Feb)

Note
(rest day)

Ankle sore this morning

It was fine for the urban last night, but felt weak and sore in the middle race
