Orienteering race 52:22 [3] 6.89 km (7:36 / km) +182m 6:43 / km

WNL Ashton Court

Enjoyed the first 11 controls which too 27 minutes, but then heavens opened, couldn't see or read map due to steamed up glasses. Gave up next control, almost gave up on one after, jogged a bit, found a few more, got to the finish 2 seconds over the hour.

Last half hour was pretty pointless, so just enjoyed a bot of running.

Was enjoying it and running felt good until the rain, so shame about the weather, but I learnt that I think it is pointless going orienteering in dark and rain

Lovely Autumn afternoon. Quite a stiff breeze for first part of ride as far as Ham.

Back a bit sore after the run last night...

Lydney MapRun

Wore Hoka Carbon X SPE shoes for first time and felt good. No issues at all with ankles, Achilles, calves.

Reasonable route, although possibly would have scored higher by taking in 19 and 27.

Lower level loop across fields to Ashmead Green - Upthorpe - Rackfields Nature Reserve then weaving through footpaths of Cam to Elstrub Lane and The Quarry and then back through lower part of Stinchcombe Hill Woods.

Nice loop and enough off road.

Training on MapRun Blue Course in New Fancy

Decided to go straight to no.1, just because I wanted to do some terrain running rather than just run on paths...... didn't help that the map was totally wrong, with a light green strip, actually being a wide open area with deep bracken, so very slow and for first 400m of course just had no confidence.

It improved a bit, but decided to try staying in terrain as much as possible, where in a race path routes would be better.

A few other map issues in places.

Nice to be running in the woods with a map.

All the car parks looked like they were heaving..... I think people were getting out before the next lockdown!!
