Orienteering race 57:18 [3] 5.5 km (10:25 / km) +270m 8:22 / km

British Middle Distance - Summerhouse Knott M50 (23/59)

Enjoyable yet frustrating. Messed up 1 by going down track and then too far left and wasn't 100% sure where I hit sour, and turned left instead of right (1:30).

Then big mistake on 3, where ok to ditch, but then convinced myself that I was on right line of crags and did not want to drop down, which was obviously wrong as control was down below - 4:00 (The splits on this leg make for interesting reading - James Logue lost the race here and despite me losing 4 minutes, many others lost far more!).

Took it steady after that trying to cut down on mistakes and was not able to get moving in rough terrain. A few small mistakes after, but just lack of ability in terrain!

Peak Raid - Monsal Head

Another trot around new bits of Peaks. Whilst today possibly wasn't as hot, it was stupidly humid. Walked most hills.

Another enjoyable couple of hours.

Cycling - Road 2:15:14 [3] 46.65 km (20.7 kph) +1075m

Enjoying the Peak District sunshine :-)

Started from Ladybower Reservoir - lovely ride to Bradfield, Bolsterstone, Midhopestones and back via Strines Inn (for refreshment).

Through Ewden Valley, which is lovely and don't think I have been here since 1990 British Championships in 1990. Has it been used since?

Lots of Curlew and a hare ran out in front of me. First time seen one in years.

Walking 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km) +153m 10:24 / km

From Bowden Bridge up to Kinder Reservoir, up to Kinder Path and back down, way Kinder Downfall Fell Race goes up. Back along road stopping at pub on way.

Peak Raid - Lantern Pike and Coombes Edge

Nice and gentle, as too hot to rush. I think this is first time I've been up on Coombes Edge, despite being able to see it from parents house!

Cycling - Road 3:14:19 [3] 83.81 km (25.9 kph) +923m

Sun's out, so bike out. Longest ride in my Strava era.

Kingswood, Hawkesbury, Badminton, Sheraton, Malmesbury, Tetbury (to Wild Carrot of course). Back via Avenging, Minchinhampton Common, Stroud and Frocester.

Hot one and lots of cyclists out.

Painswick MapRun

Poor map, gove me a 1:25,000 OS map with field boundaries marjed any day (well that's my excuse for getting lost trying to follow non-existent paths and paths at other times which were just horrid - to be fair this was the one I ended up on after getting lost).

I am too used to navigating footpaths with the OS map, that I didn't think it would be difficult, but hey ho.

Legs a bit sore after yesterday, so started slowly and then just pootled around when I did find some nicer paths.

At least I know to avoid footpaths between Painswick and Edge in the future (apart from the CW).
