Ripped a hole in the rear tire where one of the knobs completely detached. Crossed my fingers and hoped Stan's would seal it, but airing back up the tire just spewed the sealant all over my feet. Put a tube in and snuck out to the highway to get home. Bummer, missed most of the good stuff on Lair but it was getting darker and couldn't risk pinch flatting on the chunky stuff. Put a big ding on the rim too, which sucks, but looks like it's probably just cosmetic. More proof that I need a full squish :)

Helped a guy stranded with a flat and moved a rattlesnake off the trail. Consider my good deed for the month covered.

Things did not go well for your boy today. Felt meh on the opening climb, and pretty fine through 10 miles. Not great, but I figured I'd be able to jog everything and end up somewhere around 5 hours. Somewhere on Tramway things just went sideways, might have tried to plow too many gels in too short a time, but all of a sudden my stomach turned and I started puking. May have frightened a few cyclists and hikers, but from then on it was full on survival mode. I would eat/drink at the aid, eject, and continue forward SLOWLY. I was passed many times over, but at the final aid station I sat for a while with Andy and he gave me a nice cold beer which was the only thing that stayed (relatively) in me. Jogged down to the finish and had a nice nap in the shade. So, probably a bunch of lessons in there to reflect on, but number one is simple humble pie. The marathon did much more damage to me than I thought it would, which nixed all of my planned training between the races and I simply wasn't ready. Have a bunch of time to train for GT now, and I'm excited to get started on that. Gotta figure out a good balance between bike/run, but certainly will lean run heavy. Need volume and vertical.
