Had just enough legs to have a pretty good day. Rode smart early and was able to make moves along the divide especially on the downs and move from 25th to 9th. Hit Star Pass and went hell for leather and it cost me about a mile later as I dislodged a rock and hit the deck doing ~20mph. Got super lucky and didn't break anything (thought I'd broken my thumb, and it hurts like a mofo, but I can move it & it's not swelling). After I got my shit together I kept hammering the long descent and got into 8th at the end of the long down, but he passed me back on the road and I couldn't hold his wheel. I filled my bottle with Coke, the sweet nectar of the gods, and struggled through the rock gardens back up the finish in 9th. Happy to have done well, happy to be done racing and into full fun season.
