Note

I'm getting a few little niggles around my body. Calves, knee, hip etc. so I really need to keep up a good level of stretching and strength if I plan on maintaining the higher level of training I''ve been doing for the past two weeks. I seriously don't want to injure myself and be out for ages again so I need to be a good girl.

Did an old course from the ESOC chasing sprint event at HW campus. did it quite a bit faster than I did original though I Kind of had to improvise with two controls as the were under construction.

I took the lead the whole way there just to see how fast I would be getting there tomorrow. Horrible headwind so much slower than I would have thought. Roar had a lovely easy cycle sitting in behind me... :P

Cycling back roar was in front and I think he was trying to be nice to me by going very slowly but there was no wind so it was handy out. I would say about half of this was intensity 0 but I cba separating it out because I can't log split intensities. Had a nice gawk about though. It's such a lovely cycle home.

ESOC event at Mary Erskines school and ravelstone woods. I mispunched. Didn't see the control. Very sloppy at 3 I lost like three minutes faffing.... I was just too tired for this course.

Cycling to and from Corstorphine. Nice to be on my bike again. As the day progressed I felt more comfortable with cycling and I got to know the bike a bit more. Not crazy happy with my brakes but maybe that's a fear caused by France. Otherwise super happy to be cycling and I feel like it's loosening out my hip abductors which is great!

I pushed a little hard at some points on this course but the aim was to keep it smooth and I think I did that. I'd done most of the controls before (though backwards) so I wanted to just make sure I had good control flow. Also I decided to do the whole course without my compass just to make sure I was paying attention. Nearly messed up direction going to number four because of it but it was a good exercise.

Score event in Lendrick Muir. This was very fun so I'm glad we went. Was a good enough speed for the first half ( maybe more than half)but then died for the second half. As usual need to get my fitness up but I was pretty happy. Overshot some controls and missed no 28 but otherwise pretty good.

So I've figured out that it's my shoes that are the ones hurting my hip. No surprises there. I forgot to bring my salomons so after a while my hip started getting really sore which meant the last quarter of the run was very slow and painful. Epic run however. At the top of the biggest one I went up the wind nearly knocked me over and I couldn't really breathe. It was awesome. Definitely gale force. Then coming down the valley I was running straight into it. Never before have I felt so supported running downhill.

I was 55mins at the 7.5km mark which is an improvement on last week-especially due to the fact that I did more climb. The last part didn't have very much climb and it was essentially getting back to the start. I don't think I'll finish that way again. Otherwise it was a pretty fun run. Finishing the week with around 32kms run which doesn't sound that much but it's pretty high up there with my longest distance weeks. Pretty happy with myself.

Orienteering training with Roar. Worked on a few things that I do wrong especially compassing and the like. Had a really good time and I wasn't cold wearing a tee shirt. Roll on the Summer!
