Orienteering race 56:13 [4] 3.3 km (17:02 / km) +40m 16:04 / km

Pretty good run for the most part except for the fact that I was really really slow. The first control I got pretty well. went in at the river, up the linear marsh and into the contol. the second control I was so slow to because of the uphill deep heather kinda thing. read it pretty well though because of the lack of speed and got it pretty spot on. 3,4,5,6 were pretty easy legs seven I ran to the end of the road and went in because I wanted a reprieve from the heather. Eight was the radio control, 9 I made a big mess of. There were a group ahead of me looking for my control. they were on the bank further on from the conntrol and I assumed that was probably where it was. Then everyone went on and I actually remember standing at the top of the bank looking at the radio control and there was a kind of bank nearer to it and I thought "It's probably over there" But I followed everyone else because I just don't trust my orienteering at the moment. I lost around 6 mins there. 10,11,12,13,14 were simple. Fifteen was the spectator control and I could hear everyone shouting. I tried to just keep my head down read the map and run at a reasonable pace. Got 15 pretty well. I actually saw 16 on my way to 15 but for some reason when I came out of 15 and everyone was going a different way to the way I thought I followed them,... again! it's ridiculous I lost another 6 minutes for being totally stupid and not believing in myself. The last few were a doddle though 18 was nice and trickily hidden in a nook in the peat bank. Nearly died on the run in cos I was so tired. I really enjoyed most of the run however and I thought it was a nice course. Next year I hopefully will be much fitter and will monster it...

Orienteering 1:47:29 [4] 7.78 km (13:49 / km) +327m 11:25 / km

Made a HUUUUUGGGE mistake on number 1. A big enough mistake on no 12. I thought I was above the big clearing when In fact I was above the smaller clearing. made little mistakes all over the place and felt quite tired again. head wasn't really in it but I enjoyed it all the same
