Orienteering race (Middle) 1:08:58 [4] 5.0 km (13:48 / km) +125m 12:16 / km

Made a 10 min mistake on the only semi difficult one. Awful stuff. Legs were feeling tired and my shins were really tight. Good thing there are two more races...

Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Really fun session. New blacks so I had some fun trying to figure those out. My arms were killing me from the weekend though. Might have done a nice double strain.... ah well. They'll have a week to recover now. The black on the slab is really cool. Definitely going to do it next time.

Note

Ok body I will make you a deal. You stop being sick and I will run the Irish 3day. What's that, you don't want to run the 3day? Well too bad I just signed up. Woooo. I suppose I'll just bribe you with Ice-cream like I usually do.

Hill run 56:53 [4] 8.25 km (6:54 / km) +383m 5:36 / km
(sick)

So I'm pretty sure that that time is not actually right from what people are saying but that's the time IMRA gave me anyway. Great run by Conor and Kev. Solid runs by the rest of the orienteers. Fair play.

Hill run race 1:29:54 [4] 10.0 km (8:59 / km) +580m 6:58 / km

So I didnt hace dinner the night before or that much to eat on the day so naturally I started cramping half way up. After that it was just about finishing really. My positioning was awful at the beginning and I was stuck behind slow people for ages so lost time just standing behind the pile up. Good fun though

Running 12:50 [3] 2.5 km (5:08 / km)

some running about trying to get home

Orienteering race 53:59 [3] 7.4 km (7:18 / km)

Such a lovely run in Donadea. The forest is the nicest I've ever seen it and we got to choose nice areas to run in because it was a scatter. I had loads of fun. Direction was bad out of controls and also my correction. especially near the end when i was getting tired. Made mistakes going to 13 because my brain tried to convince me halfway to going to 13 that I meant to go to 19. Went towards 19 a bit. then realised I was being dumb. Lost lots of time on 21 because of the way the openy areas are mapped. The only place in Donadea where theres a path on the map and not the ground. It was littered with them elsewhere. Maybe it was just beyond a bad patch.

Either way it was so nice to get out in a forest after a long days work.

Note

Didn't get to go hill running last night because I didn't get out of work on time.

Wednesday May 7, 2014 #

Note

Wish you could put notes on routegadget for example "this is where i started doubting myself and I saw Conor so I just ran after him and got lost"

Orienteering race (irish champs relays) 52:30 [5] 4.0 km (13:08 / km) +210m 10:24 / km

Caoimhe put me out with a great lead which i promptly gave away. Awful to number one. Stayed high to 2 in the white and then dropped in to no 2. Suffered to no 3 and lvo woman pretty much caught me. Messed up 4 but the map was bad. Lvo didnt have that control because she seemed much lower. She passed me here. Missed 5 I didnt think they would be that low but I suppose what other boulders were they going to be?. Flaked it across to 6. Lvo kind of pulled me into the wrong area but I relocated well enough I suppose. Pretty fast across to 7 considering I was shattered. Spiked 7 as there was a really obvious tree on the ground marked nice and unobviously on the map. So slow up the hill to 8 and lvo repassed me. Didnt want to kill myself here and blow up in the forest.
Good to 9, 10. For 11 I could see lvo looking around for something higher up and I knew she made a mistake. Had to be really clean now. I was a bit high but knew that and dropped down to it. Kept high for twelve so I could pick definite features. Beautiful forest so really enjoying myself. 13 misread the feature and lost a few seconds. Handed over to niamh in first so job done even if it was really sloppy. We won woooo go on the Cnoc
