Orienteering race 43:14 [3] 4.48 km (9:39 / km) +63m 9:01 / km

First of all I am stealing Roar's distance and climb.
I feel like this was the first race that I really raced in the sense that I saw someone in front of me and I wanted to stick with them. Some pink woman passed me at like the first control because I was tired from all my training this week and my cycling and I really just didn't want to be there.
However I just said to myself to try and stick with her for a few controls to test myself.
made a little control circle error on 2, bad direction out of 3 due to following the direction that pink lady had left. I was a bit out of touch with her at this point. I had to go around a bit to the road so time lost there. There was a large marsh blocking the way to 4 but I manned up and crossed just after the little hill and was rewarded by punching the control with pink lady who had gone around. Got tired going across to 5 and she was gapping me a bit. Roar came past me like a train which was a little bit of a why do I bother moment and I walked a little bit in the leg sapping tussocky bit going to six but picked it back up after crossing into the open part. Pink lady was nowhere in sight. Just before I punched six, my foot went into a hole and I went over on my ankle badly. Had to sit down and pray to god that I hadn't done anything to it. Took it tender to 7 but my compass was bang and it was no problem. Was great to eight but very slow. When I got to the wall I saw pink lady running along beside it. Knew she must have had a disaster somewhere.
I literally must have run right beside number 8 was in the marsh past it being like where is it. circled around a bit and found it buried in a bush. Sneaky. Ran to nine with another guy who was faffing at eight. Pink lady was still there somewhere. Blue guy was ahead of me going to 10 he seemed nice enough so when he was going past 10 i told him to cut in. 11 was pretty handy but it was nice to have someone cut in ahead of me all the same. Going into 12 the blue guy slowed down and nearly started walking but I shouted some encouragement because it would be nice to have someone to keep with going up the hill as I had heard pink lady going across the metal sheet. Pushed up the hill. I knew she had been faster than me but I didn't want her to pass me out.

So maybe that was too big a write up for a wee but I really enjoyed it and it was a different kind of race I usually do. I wasn't fast but I kept running and trying to think about what was going on around me with other people.

Cycling 32:00 [2]

This was really tough due to the wind and I had left home a bit late. some guy passed me out just after the bridge where you have to get off your bike when I was getting back on but I caught him up and dropped him like he was hot. Even though he wasn't

Running 19:22 [4] 3.3 km (5:52 / km)

So I'm going to say it was 90 seconds recovery because I had no way of knowing really but it was 200m walking so was probably a bit more most times a little less some other times plus didn't do a last recovery.

This was like half gravel half terrain intervals which was a little fun and definitely less boring than normal intervals.

times for the intervals were
2:18
2:26
2:19
2:26
2:23
some of these were longer because I got lost a bit on the other half-I just couldn't find the "trail". The loose gravel at the end was so energy sapping as well. Felt slow but it was fun... I suppose

Running warm up/down 11:10 [3] 1.89 km (5:54 / km)

Running warm up/down 8:05 [2] 1.19 km (6:48 / km)

Running 28:29 [3] 4.7 km (6:04 / km)

Half my run home from HW with Alison. It was great because she was carrying a bag that looked around the same size as her torso so I was actually being paced at a nice easy pace. I find it quite hard to do this sometimes. Plus with someone to talk to the pace had to be pretty conversational

Strength 10:00 [1]

few arm and ab exercises.

Such power! soon I may be able to do one whole unassisted pull up haha

Running 28:21 [3] 5.4 km (5:15 / km) +30m 5:06 / km

Second half of my run home from HW. Pushed up the hill as I knew I'd be stopping at tesco for bread haha.

So this coming week is supposed to be a hard week but with the fact that I'm going over to see my family paired with the fact that I'm like a zombie at the moment I have no idea what I'm going to do. I suppose I'll take every day as it comes but this week has taken it's toll on me.

Only two weeks to the Scottish champs and I still don't know who I'll be running against. For all I know there's only three of us in the category.
