Running warm up/down 12:00 [1] 1.5 km (8:00 / km)

10 AM

Orienteering race 2:31:00 [4] 9.7 km (15:34 / km) +550m 12:08 / km

Number 1: pretty slow taking it nice and handy up to the cairn. Decided to go around but should probably have gone straight over. (see no 16)

2: really bad off the hill ended up very west because I didn't have a plan and was just trying to get to the road. Silly of me. Met Ciara running the other way. Nearly had a heart attack thinking I'd somehow gotten myself on the wrong road but she was heading back to 1 as she had gotten 16 instead. fair play. Decided to go via the path up to the other cairn then follow the line of crags until I could see the open areas then cut across. As it turned out I didn't see them until I was on them so a bit roundabout.

3 was grand just followed the spur and in.

4. contoured until the crags then in.

5 down through the open area hit the flat area with the rock and in to the control.

6 compass to massive crag and in

7:decided to go beside the fence but it was rough going. Slogged up the hill walking parallel to the path for a while over the top and down the path to the control.

8 dropped to open area until the bend then compass to the control ticking off the veg changes.

9 over and in.

10: Why did I go through the open. That was literally the only advice I had to myself for today. Don't go through the open. Especially don't go through the open completely covered in rocks.

11: compass downhill hit a ride not marked on the map and into the control.

12: Few mistakes here through the crappy open. Dropped a bit too much and then overcompensated but it wasn't too bad.... maybe

13 went via the last control.

14: up that absolutely torturous hill path-wall-path-cross wall- into control (map exchange)

15 bit wobbly. Was feeling really really ill by this point. Got a little bit sick. Decided to slow down (bet you didn't think that was possible) but I think I was just a bit out of it. This was where things started to really go wrong.
