Hill run race 1:00:00 [4] 9.62 km (6:14 / km) +363m 5:15 / km

Wicklow way relay with the crew. Very nervous before the start because I knew my team were all much better than me but consoled myself that I was the only woman they could find so better than nothing. I decided I was gonna try my best anyways. Was expecting 65-70 mins.

Breakfast wasn't great. Wheatabix always makes me feel sick but I forgot to bring anything else so I bad to make do. That mixed with the nerves didn't feel great.

Ilona came in in sixth after a great run with another woman pretty close after her. Didn't have my garmin so was using map and watch to guesstimate pace. Sportsworld guy went past me like a train almost immediately but I tried not to let him affect me too much. Still think I went off too hard and suffered for it up the Scarr road. Walked a bit even. Out onto the turn towards paddock hill and a guy and a girl passed me maybe two guys I cant remember I was a bit preoccupied by how much my calves had seized up.

Got a bit back into the swing of it here and on the little bit of downhill into the open passed the woman who passed me before. She was super strong though and passed me again on the flat part over to the fence. That is the longest fence In the world btw. Stomach caught up with me finally here and felt quite sick. Another guy passed me and the two went on by themselves. Wasnt expecting to keep with these guys anyway since I'd started so far up the leader board. stopped before the downhill to see if anything wanted to come up but it settled down and I laced it down that beautiful part there.

Into the woods where I surprisingly managed to catch the woman back up. She was pretty atrocious tbh. Had to stop the windmill to get past her but then I was back into freefall. Beautiful path in here actually; nice and narrow. Across the bridge and onto Brockagh and I think this is where she passed me back out. This part is pretty blurry in my mind. Was feeling super queasy and probably a bit dizzy from trying hard for so long. I definitely dropped 3/4 mins from here to the end of Brockagh on what I would have done normally i'd say. Managed to ignore it and be strong on the run in from brockagh through the visitors centre across the bridge to the hand over where I did in fact spew the littleist bit. I think the team were happy I managed to do better than I expected. Got some compliments on my downhill running which was nice.

All in all really enjoyable. Wouldd definitely do it again!

Hill run warm up/down 44:00 [3] 4.94 km (8:54 / km) +445m 6:08 / km

This was split in two because I was marshalling at the Wicklow way crossing. I decided to walk/jog up to the summit after and back down to the Wicklow way. I demarked from there on. Lovely day out.
