Running 31:28 [3] 3.0 mi (10:29 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:128lbs shoes: Saucony

Ran on the wooded and prairie trails at Minneopa State Park. I took the HIking Club Trail A. I started out walking but the ground felt so good under my feet that I took off running. Running on the grass and dirt did NOT hurt my knees! I need to try that again soon.
11 AM

Yoga warm up/down 15:00 [1]
slept:6.0 weight:128lbs

Stretched out on my yoga mat under the sunny skies at Minneopa State Park. There is nothing like doing yoga outside! I even did a tripod and then a headstand without falling over!

Yoga outside in Minneopa State Park. Totally AWESOME!

Biking 3:00:00 [3] 14.0 mi (12:51 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:128lbs

Biked out of the camp grounds at Minneopa State Park in MN. We were trying to get to the beginning of a certain bike trail that starts in Mankato but we never made it. We were biking with the whole family and my sister. Our 10 year old just got a new bike with 21 gears and hand breaks. He has never had one like this before and it was a bit hard to get used to. He is also not tres athletique so the terrain which was up and down steep hills, was a bit much. It was also 93 degrees - who can blame him. He did a great job considering how far we went.

"Red" is great...she rides so smooth.

Biking 18:00 [2] 3.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:129lbs

Biked to the Y. Woke up at 5:00 am today as my goal was to be at the Y by 5:30, get done with my laps in 15 minutes and be back home by 6:15 so I could be to work at 7 am.

I came close to my goal. I got to the Y and was in the pool by 6:00 and was home by 6:40. I made it to work by 7:20. Not bad for the first run through. I have 3 weeks of this schedule and then I could get up at 6:00 or 7:00 am which would help with the numbers of hours of sleep I am getting which is really not enough.

Biking felt great though. I saw two rabbits. The streets are so quiet at before 6 am. The sun had yet to come up over the buildings. I rode hard, listening to my breath and focused on the experience of the pedals going round and round.
6 AM

swimming 14:00 [3] 0.5 mi (27:59 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:129lbs

Arms were a bit heavy today after swimming yesterday. I kept them moving though and completed my half mile in 14 minutes...1 minute less than yesterday.

I was able to shower and get dressed for work right at the Y and that saved on time at home.

I am liking this workout a lot - biking and swimming combo.

Biking 20:00 [3] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:130lbs

Biked up to the YMCA. Gorgeous morning. Saw 27 goslings, 4 geese and 6 more goslings and 2 more geese on Carrie St. (how fitting).

When I got to the Y, I jumped into my swimsuit and hopped into the pool and swam 1/2 mile. I'll add another log to track my swimming.

Biked home - awsome workout and knees didn't hurt at all! I love the water!
7 AM

swimming 15:00 [3] 0.5 mi (29:59 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:130lbs

Did 33 lengths at the Y which equals .5 of a mile. It felt great, water always does to me. It is like my second home. I'll probably need at week to work up to a mile but then I will be able to do it, no problem. My lungs are strong...it's more the arm workout that does me in.

Well, the Y scale is a bit more sensitive and it weighed me at 130 lbs whereas the home scale said 128ish. Ugh. If I am at about perfect weight, can I loose weight? Should I loose weight? I thought 125 would be perfect but I can't seem to stay there. Was I 16 the last time I was 125? I shouldn't obsess. All is good. I feel good and the sun continues to shine :)

Yoga 30:00 [2]
slept:7.0 weight:128lbs (injured)

Did Yoga on my own this morning. I put on Pandora and chose some of my favorite stations and did a combo of flow and Iyengar Yoga.

Felt great! Also, I attempted and completed a full head stand from a split leg position, raising my legs up into the air from apart to together! This is something that I have attempted to do in Core Power Yoga but have never done.
12 PM

Hiking 1:00:00 [1] 1.0 mi (1:00:01 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:128lbs (injured)

Hiked around Fort Snelling State Park today with the 4th graders. It was great to be outdoors all day instead of in a windowless classroom. It was the perfect temperature - 70's and sunny.

This kind of low intensity hiking did not bother my knees at all.

Biking 24:20 [2] 5.5 mi (4:25 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:129lbs (injured)

Rode "Red" up to Rainbow again in WSP. I like that I am getting exercise at 6 am and at the same time running an errand. I got a few supplies for the refridge that we needed.

Knee continues to bother me all day now. Also, my left knee has started to hurt in the front. I need a massage.

Walking 30:00 [1] 3.35 mi (8:57 / mi)

Yoga 1:00:00 [3]
slept:9.0 weight:128lbs (injured)

Got a lot of sleep last night. It feels awesome! Not loosing any weight though...going up...ugh! Could just a day of one cupcake, one small bag of popcorn, 3 gummy worms and a chicken quesadilla with rice and beans put on a couple of pounds? Well, today, I am on track with eating well again. I feel better when I don't eat all the junk.

Went to C2 Hot Yoga. The focus was on shoulders. I have been struggling with some shoulder and elbow pain for a while now. It started to kick in last year after a lot of intense weight training including push-ups, pull-ups etc... I was doing this 2x a day and I think it did a number on my shoulders and elbows. So, since the beginning of the year I have been laying off of the push-ups and pull-ups...which bums me out because I was getting so good at them.

Biking 24:55 [2] 5.5 mi (4:32 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:127lbs (injured)

Rode the red bike to Rainbow in WSP and back. It felt great to incorporate my training and an errand all in one.

Knees still feel a bit weak. They hurt a bit while biking too. It felt WAY better than running though so I'm sticking to biking, yoga, hiking and walking for now. One thing I haven't put in my training yet that I want to is more hula hooping. Swimming is in the near future too once I can get in the outdoor pool at the Y. I have been doing a bit of arm and ab work but would like to do more.

Biking 20:00 [2] 1.5 mi (13:20 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:126lbs (injured)

Got out the red bike today and biked some of the West Side route. I will have to figure out a longer route and a way around the stairs when I bike.

The right knee hurt a bit while biking but nothing like when I run. I will try to bike now in the mornings instead of run and see how that helps. I will continue to do Yoga.

The weather has been beautiful; warm and sunny.

I also biked the 3 blocks to work and that felt AWESOME!

Running 24:18 [2] 10.0 mi (2:26 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:125lbs (injured) shoes: Saucony

Started to run today but after the first hill I could tell that my right knee would not cooperate. My lower back was also starting to hurt.

I continued the West Side route but began walking. I walked half the way back probably only putting in a mile.

Note

Signed the family up at the YMCA tonight. The Y is maybe a mile or two from our house. It has an outdoor 50 meter pool that I enjoyed swimming in last summer and am looking forward to swimming in this summer.

The Y also has weight equipment, aerobic classes, swim classes for the little man and racquetball if we want.

This will a fun summer of exercise and good health.
7 PM

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]
slept:6.5 weight:126lbs (injured)

Went to C1 Yoga class tonight. C1 not so intense as C2. They don't heat up the room as much and it is also easier. It was a good way to end the day and it felt good...even after eating 2 chicken tacos!

Running 27:10 [3] 3.0 mi (9:03 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:125lbs (injured) shoes: Saucony

Ran the West Side, WSP, SSP route. Knees hurting a lot. Left back hurting a bit. Wore a knee brace (stretchy) on my right knee. It helped the right one but I need one for the left.

Hard run too because there was a gig last night and we didn't get to sleep until 2 am. Being up for so long on Friday is difficult. Even though I got six hours of sleep, it felt like less.

Timed the Widow Maker at :48

Note
slept:7.0 weight:125.5lbs (injured) (rest day)

I am taking a rest day. It will be a long day today as I will work from 7:30-2:15, then a dr. apt, a soccer game and then my husband's band gig until 2:00 am. By the time I get home and sleep, it will be tomorrow.

My goal is to get up early and go to Yoga on Saturday, go to book club, another soccer game and then take a nap. My knees will then be healed.

I am almost at my ideal weight! I would like to go between 120-125 lbs. My goal is not to go above 125.
6 AM

Walking 19:00:00 [1] 11.39 mi (1:40:06 / mi)

Walked today. Wore my step counter and took 14,006 steps from 6am to 2 am.

Rest day, but not really ;)

Running 26:36 [3] 3.0 mi (8:52 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:125.5lbs (injured) shoes: Saucony

Ran the West Side, West St. Paul, SSP route this morning, in the rain. Temperatures were again in the 40's. I wore three layers on top and my fuzzy, gray yoga pants. My Humboldt hoodie provides my head coverage, keeps it warm and keeps my head phones on. I wear stretchy gloves on my hands.

Hills are a bit easier although my knees, right off the bat were aching. It is both of them now, with pain not only in the back but in the front as well. It is a dull pain and as I got moving faster, it seemed to back off.

I tried running on the grass whenever possible instead of the street or the sidewalk. That felt better on my knees.

The best part of the run was the stairs which my husband calls "The Widow Maker". I timed the Widow Maker and conquered it in 53 seconds.

Eurythmy 1:15:00 [1]
slept:7.0 weight:127lbs (injured)

Behind my knees just aches ...when I run and a little bit all the time now.
In the evening on Tuesdays, I am taking an Eurythmy class. I love it! It gets my heart rate up a bit. It takes some coordination and skill, so my mind is active. I also feel free while I move.

Eurythmy is A system of rhythmical body movements performed to a recitation of verse or prose. Eurythmy is an art form which was devised by the Austrian writer and philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Eurythmy comes from the Greek words eu and rythmos meaning beautiful rhythm. It is an art form taught in Waldorf schools. Steiner himself called eurythmy "visible music" or "visible speech" in his papers Eurythmy as Visible Speech and Eurythmy as Visible Singing. The eurythmist uses gestures to illustrate words, concepts and emotions. Also part of the eurythmist's kitbag are fabric, copper balls and sticks, all of which are used to illustrate what the artist is trying to convey. (From About.com)

Running 30:13 [3] 3.0 mi (10:04 / mi)
slept:7.5 weight:127lbs (injured) shoes: Saucony

Cold, wet and raining today. It was only 39 degrees outside. I am really looking forward to some warmer weather here. I run better in the heat! BOTH knees were bothering me today. First, behind each knee started to ache and then the outside right knee was hurting. The front of my ankles were also hurting. They get sooo tight. I have a feeling they are weak and that is why they hurt. I am hoping Yoga will help to strenghten them.
Overall, todays run was not so hot!

Yoga 1:00:00 [4]
slept:8.0 weight:128lbs (injured)

I went to Hot Power Fusion class today. It must have been 100 degrees in that room! I was dripping like a leaky faucet. Felt good though...right knee still bothering me but it felt good to stretch it. One leg standing poses are tough on my ankles. I think the poses are strengthening them but BOY do they feel tight.

Yoga 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:127lbs (injured)

Hot C2 yoga today. Felt like I slept less than 6 hours since I went to bed at 3 am. Had a bit of a headache and took it easy on the downward dogs since my shoulders are hurting. Wasn't able to do any one-legged stands for any length, I am just not strong enough yet. Warrior 3 is near impossible.

Afterward ate a turkey sandwich and drank a chai.

Front of ankles were very tight today. Ran the West Side route into West St. Paul and South St. Paul with hills and stairs. Had to stop to stretch my ankles. The back of both my knees were also hurting. It was cold, 40+ degrees and misty raining.

Tough workout. Timed the stairs at 1 minute.
