Wow, what a day! Not feeling sluggish, and I was looking forward to today's run. But geez, I can definitely tell I haven't done a long run in a very long time. So, I'm definitely glad I did this run.

I signed up for the 50K but I ran out of time. I needed to be home by 3pm not finishing up at 3pm and I was 45 min away from home.

So, I was absolutely exhausted on the second half marathon loop and I was glad that I was out of time. Then as I ran along, I realized that I was within the top 10 women and I tried to figure out if maybe I had enough time to finish the 50k. But I didn't, so it was nice to see that I could have gone 5 more miles if I had to.

So, salt caps worked great and I ate a ton beforehand so I didn't need to eat much during the race, just a little bit here and there.

Great day overall, but wow... I feel I'd be lucky if I can finish 50 miles!! :)

Here's the course description:

"The marathon consists of two half-marathon loops, the 50K consists of two half-marathon loops followed by a 5 mile figure 8 loop.

Elevation gain is 3800 feet for the marathon and 4500 feet for the 50K."

Note
(sick)

I woke up feeling good. No problems, except absolutely starving. Finally made breakfast about 3 hrs after getting up. I started feeling like I waited too long. Then around 11am, I started getting chills and then heat flashes. I knew I was getting sick. My stomach feels horrible!

I'm so frustrated, is this psychosomatic???

What is my deal?

Today would have been perfect weather for a long run... :(

Run (Outside) 50:24 [3] 3.34 mi (15:05 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Os Duomax Trainers

Headed out with the intent of a 2-4 hr run. Got out there and realized that 2 hrs were going to be tough. It was straight up hill for the first two miles, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was my dog was dying in the first mile and it got really lonely out there. Not that I want there to be a lot of people, but there is a reason they call it "Cougar Mountain" and "Bear Creek Trail". I saw a couple of people out there, and wow it was gorgeous but lonely. So, I guess we try again tomorrow. I think I'm going to head out tomorrow and try again.

I had great energy, my eating is back on track, I had some sweet potato mash - which was perfect!

Run 2:39 [3]

Wow... super hot! I was going to try for two laps around Jekyll Island but I couldn't remember how far it was, 15 miles... that would make it 30 miles for two laps... ugh, not ready for that in 93 degree weather with 85% humidity.

Otherwise decent run! My eating sucks, too many sweets, I have no energy!

Good outside run, a little cold. Coming back from 98 degree weather is tough both on the body and on the motivation. Who wants to run outside when it's 50, cold and rainy? Yuck.

Super hot out there, I'm looking at my watch to log these runs but I'm not sure how I could have done this run while I was in an airport in Dallas... I think maybe the time was off a bit...

Hot run, a little cooler though, lots of lightning and thunder, made me run a little quicker to get back before the storm started. I made it.

Today was super hot, wow. It is definitely harder to run outside in the heat and humidity, my cardio sucks here! I've always loved running out in the heat and humidity but it seems like it's harder now that it used to be. Hmm.... I don't know what the deal is.

I'm beat!!!!

High energy, great run!
Couldn't do 9:10 min/mile @ 3% incline because the treadmill wasn't working so I increased .2 mph every 5 min

Completed 8 miles in 65:03, then went easy on the last 5 min.
