Holy Smokes!!!!!

So, I'm traveling again, and I saw that I was suppoed to do a 6 hr run next weekend. Knowing that I will be working at least 12 hr shifts next weekend, I decided to go ahead and do the 6 hr run this weekend. I happened to find a 50K in Eastern Washington (high desert). What I got myself into was beyond words and a great wake-up call. It was literaly a mini-Leadville. I spent the first hour and 15 min walking, that's how steep it was! That was an incredibly brutal run, if you can call it that.

I started super slow thinking, "let's conserve". Then it got to the point that I was thinking, "let's survive". I was ready to quit at the turnaround 4 hrs and 10 min into it. I was just going to do another hour and then back an hour. Somehow, I played mind games and deliberated and mulled it over and finally decided, against all odds, to finish. Good mental gains!

All in all, I'm very glad to have done that race and now I feel like I need to do more to better my training and increase my fitness. I'm in terrible shape for where I need to be. I also have never done so poorly on a 50k!!

Of course, I can barely walk today. :)

Run was great, felt so good, not sure if it was because the treadmill is slightly downhill or if these past few days of soooo many hills is actually helping.
