Went for a run around Arthurs Seat in the snow, did a loop around Hunters Bog, and back.

Evening run in the snow with Bex, Jet and Hollie around New Town and Carlton Hill.
Unfortunatley the gym was shut so I couldn't go to circuits :(

Back at Hazel Seat this morning with the scottish. Did two pairs excersises with one of the kids, a relocation and a map memory. Was knackered by the end of it though.

Have had cold feet all weekend.

LAKESIDE

Went hanging controls at Tarn Hows, but ended up not actually putting any out due to a slight mix up....
Then went round a pairs excersise with Florence and went for a jog.

In the afternoon we were at Hazel Seat. This involved alot more sitting in the car and keeping warm than actually orienteering, but went around part of the controls pick.

Feeling like I'm going to get a cold soon, so stayed in and ate fruit all day, even went a little crazy and put the heating on for an hour longer than usual.

Didn't feel like going on the long run today, its so so so cold! so just did some spinning in the gym with Jet, had a lovely chat and it really didn't seem like we were there for 80 minutes :)

Morning run around the Meadows - just me and Ola again...

Possibly THE worst and most boring training session ever.
Was running all the intervals by myself apart from the last km where Hector, Ola and Huw decided to "jog" with me and were actually going faster than me. Super depressing.

2 x 2km - times were - 9.56, 10.00
3 x 1km - times were - 4.46, 4.23, 4.14
Finished with 6 sprints

I think I ate too much too soon to running as I felt like a lump and was literally just plodding around the Meadows.

Jogged down to the Meadows with Bex and did lots of drills before intervals, jogged home again afterwards.

Orienteering 1:05:52 [5]

Long race around the Montjuic, starting and finishing in the althletics stadium. The start was good, but then there was this bit in the castle and there was a control that was marked on the map as an uncrossable wall inbetween some garden and out-of-bounds. Turns out, the control feature hadn't been marked on the map.....
And I also got stabbed in the wrist by a plant, which was v. painful and distracting.

BUT I was the only person on my course, so won :D

BARCELONA!

Sprint Race around some park/houses/office areas & next to the sea. Much much fun :)
The map was a little rubbish and there was one control which was surrounded by thick black lines but apart from that, a pretty good race.

Was getting some major plodding on, well knackered from yesterday.

went and helped Alice hand some of the FWTN controsl around Craigmillar and the housing estate. Only got a little bit of abuse from some children.

Orienteering 58:07 [3]

Toni took the bus over to Stirling and did part of a course around a wood near Aberfoyle. Only took a petzel type torch and no compass as I didn't realise we would be orienteering, so wasn't amazingly fast/acurate.


Orienteering 55:26 [5]

FVO Night Race at Plean Country Park. Managed to borrow a proper headtorch for this race and didn't really need a compass as it was a much easier area. Mass start thing, was running with a few people until about half way when they all disappeared.
Good race, only a few small mistakes.

Orienteering at Lochgoilhead. Amazingly beautiful day and the views were stunning! Did the blue course which was not very long, but it was massivley marshy and cold. Not particularly fast, still hurting from racing yesterday.

Race (Cross-Country) 23:25 [5] 3.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

Braids cross-country, v. muddy indeed. Nearly a minute faster than last year :D
Tried hard to gain places on the up hill but really over-took most people on the down. Much more enjoyable than last year, probably because I didn't almost die in the last mile.

Tread-mill intervals. Usual - warm up then do 4 x roughly 90 seconds as fast as possible. Some intervals were longer but slower (ish).

Morning run around the Meadows. Ran with Jet and Bex for a bit, then with Jack and Mike for a bit. Very windy and very rainy :(

Long run in the Pentlands with Jet and Hollie. Started from Flotterstone and ran along to Carlops. Toni planned a course on a countour only map but we only went to number 4 and then just ran along the ridge back.
Was SO SO cold. My face was numb and there was even a teeny bit of snow!

Just the usual interval session -
2 x 2km - times were - 9.32, 9.49
3 x 1km - times were - 4.27, 4.31, 4.30
90 seconds rest in between intervals.

Warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Jogging down to the meadows and did a few drills before and then jogged home afterwards.

Went on the machines to warm up and down, and did some stretching before and after circuits.

Went for a pre-breakfast run with my mum on Ilkley Moor - ran up to Rocky Valley, 12 Apostles, across to the trig point and back down the marsh, across to the Keighley Road and home. She was well fast on the uphill, not so much on the down...
Loving being home, the food is amazing :D

HOME FOR THE WEEKEND :)

YHOA Squad training at Storthes Hall. Did aiming off, compass bearings, a little race thing and then collecting controls at the end of the day.
Tried out a right handed thumb compass and hated it. Then tried Nev's baseplate compass and its a million times better than mine.

Orienteering 18:00 [4]

Did a relay practise at Storthes Hall and was on second leg. Set off with about 5 other people, including Tony, who is an absolute speed machine. Was quite a fast race and v.v. brambley.

Went to the gym and did some strength work

Intervals (Tread-mill) 20:00 [4]

Did the same as last week - running on the treadmill to get leg speed up. Ran really fast for 90 seconds and did that four times, with resting inbetween.
Got up to 17km/hr this week I think....

Cycled to the gym, spinning before and after the session and then a few minutes jogging after the treadmill.

Had a wee Fight With The Night around Edinburgh. Got caught up by Jet quite early on noticed that I wasn't really reading my map properly as I was concentrating too much on trying to keep up.
Calves wern't too painful either which is good. Will have to do more of this foam roalling malarky more often.

Orienteering (Long Run) 1:40:13 [3]

The usual Wednesday afternoon run in the Pentlands, this week with Jo. Started from the reservoir above Flotterstone and ran a course on a countour only map that Toni had planned. Was good to be running in terrain the whole time but did go over my ankle again, so will have to be more careful.
Also, need to remember some full leg cover next time, running through burnt heather is PAINFUL.

Morning jog around the Meadows. Rained and was very windy, BUT it is light now, so that was nice. ish.

Usual intervals. Again...
2x2km - times were - 9.33, 9.48
3x1km - times were - 4.19, 4.25, 4.28


Not a very consistant session but I was mainly running by myself again for nearly the wole session.
Also, my right calve muscle was spazzing out on the last km, it felt a bit like a really bad cramp. Stretched it back at home, still a little sore though.

Morning run, but decided to mix things up a bit and went around the Hermitage woods. Didn't see anyone until this man came out of some bushes and gave me such a fright that I ran into a tree and fell over. Slightly twisted my ankle but it seems fine now.
