The session was supposed to be a 10 mile progression starting at 6 min miles then getting 10s quicker every 1/4 of the 10 miles and every 1/8 after 3/4s finishing at around 5 flat.

I definitely started off too quick, looking back I should of just sat in the pack. Pretty spent by 1/2 way so called it at 40 mins.

Quite a few lessons to be learnt. I've never done a session like this before so I didn't realise how much damage could be done going a bit too quick at the start, think this was exasperated by the altitude. This combined with a bit of fatigue from Sunday took its toll and I should of taken yesterday easier. Going to make sure I take the next few days a bit more steady and hopefully learn from my mistakes come Friday.

75 out on the railroads with Sid. First half felt absolutely fine, even managed to race and beat a freight train to the crossing. Then on the way back we hit a big headwind and mutually decided it was best to not tackle it and just chill. Really hot and dry as well, ended up with armpit chafe, a new and painful experience.

2x 3 Alamosa 'Mile' Tempos

15.45, 15.21

Basically 150m short of 3 miles on both reps, don't know why but the guys said it's always been like that. Coach said to start the first one relaxed so I settled in with the main pack, around 10 of us, ticking over nicely and never really over exerting with about 5-7 lads off the front. Had the choice of 2 Miles for the second rep but I was feeling good so took the 3. Started off hard and found myself ahead of the main group. Maintained a good rythem with Danny and Isiah ahead of the main group whilst Sid was ahead with a couple of ATP boys. Felt I could of done the last mile rep that the other boys did but Coach put me back on the leash. Very encouraging signs of early shape!

Stomach all over the place at the moment. Think it's got something to do with the tap water. Going to stop drinking it.

10k out and back next to the golf course. Then 6x 100 strides on the outdoor track. Very hot day. Good chat with Paddy. Took a lie in so still pre-breakfast. Nice day of active recovery with my first tempo session at altitude tomorrow.

Fort Garland Mountain Run

Started pretty flat with the whole team together then the first climb came around 25 minutes and everyone flexed. Made it to the top near the front and didn't stop for water. The next 60 minutes was purely rolling hills sitting in with Dalton and Josh. The scenery up where we were running was absolutely beautiful. Run kind of spoiled by food sitting in my stomach and needing the toilet for the first 60 minutes before relieving myself. Going to have to plan my eating better for 3pm practises. Quality first trip into the mountains and looking forward to some more brutal runs as supposedly this was one of the easier routes.
