Coming into a race week so Coach wanted it 5-10 seconds slower than last week which I stuck to. Feeling good physically just a bit sleep deprived. 1 more mile than last week building up well.

Pinos Creek Mountain run.

About an hours drive out of Alamosa and into the rockies. Started from around 11000ft and got up to 11500ft. Feeling quite dizzy in the last 20 minutes having never run at this height. Legs very domy as well after squats yesterday.

The session was supposed to be a 10 mile progression starting at 6 min miles then getting 10s quicker every 1/4 of the 10 miles and every 1/8 after 3/4s finishing at around 5 flat.

I definitely started off too quick, looking back I should of just sat in the pack. Pretty spent by 1/2 way so called it at 40 mins.

Quite a few lessons to be learnt. I've never done a session like this before so I didn't realise how much damage could be done going a bit too quick at the start, think this was exasperated by the altitude. This combined with a bit of fatigue from Sunday took its toll and I should of taken yesterday easier. Going to make sure I take the next few days a bit more steady and hopefully learn from my mistakes come Friday.

75 out on the railroads with Sid. First half felt absolutely fine, even managed to race and beat a freight train to the crossing. Then on the way back we hit a big headwind and mutually decided it was best to not tackle it and just chill. Really hot and dry as well, ended up with armpit chafe, a new and painful experience.
