Running warm up/down 13:56 [2] 1.2 km (11:37 / km)
weight:107.5kg shoes: Asics rainbow shoes

Warm up pre Scottish Sprint O champs.
2 PM

Orienteering race (Scottish Sprint O Champs) 16:17 [5] 3.03 km (5:22 / km) +2m 5:21 / km
shoes: Asics rainbow shoes

6th place in M45.

Didnt quite make my target of top 5, finishing 6th for the 2nd year in a row, but very much on the positive side finished several minutes closer to the lead this year than in 2013 and only 16 seconds behind 4th and 13 seconds behind Steve W in 5th. (1'17" behind Jon Cross this time in comparison to 9min over 2 races in 2013)

Very clean run from start to 2nd last control. Spotted trap at 2nd last - to be fair was expecting this as a lot of early finishers were commenting it was tricky at the end, but could see the best way through on the run and ended up going a bit of an unnecessarily long way round. Probably only cost around 10s though so wouldnt have changed my place.

Also got a record (for me) 1183 BOF ranking points - happy days.

Brief warm up pre Scottish Nights

Orienteering race 1:10:35 [4] 6.09 km (11:35 / km) +235m 9:43 / km
shoes: Falcon 2

Scottish Night Champs 4th of 8.

Finished behind Andy Dale, Jon Cross and Steve Wilson so no shame in that. Bit ironic that I did better in this race than in the sprints earlier, and in doing so also beat Andrew McMurtrie, the guy who beat me into 6th in the sprint by 16 seconds! No a bad run - pretty slow and steady with no major errors. Got a bit confused at top of hill when glasses got all smeeary with sweat and had to take torch off to clean them, missing best route to the control between the thickets.

Well off the pace set by Steve et all though to be fair Steve nearly beat Dave R and finished 4min ahead of Tess H so not realistic for me to be keeping up with him at night!

Prologue for ESOC sprint. Good run. COuld have shaved a few seconds off with some route choices but noone perfect. Al D 90sec error meant I was only 7 seconds behind...

Orienteering race 21:37 [5] 3.87 km (5:35 / km) +15m 5:29 / km

Chasing start. Just 7 s behind Al D. Kept him in sight till the very end, but never had quite the pace to catch him. Eventually 45s behind Al and 20s behind Ian Davidson which is a decent result for me.
