I did the long course at the U of L campus, found all the points well enough with only a couple giving me real trouble. The real issue, other than fitness, which needs lots of work, is working on the route I select to move from point to point. I usually wind up looking at the map, picking some easy to see and identify features to mark my path and go. Once I get close I search around until I find control. On the campus it became obvious that this is NOT the fastest way. I need to save some time by using some time to think a little more about the route to the next control. That and not being so stubborn about control locations when I am wrong. Sometimes I find I have to talk myself into looking somewhere else when I don't find the control where I expect it to be.

More practice will help.
