Wednesday Feb 28

Running Smooth 30:00 [2]
Warm-up/cool-down.
Orienteering City/Park (wet) 25:00 [4] 3.7 km (6:45 / km)
WET at Musqueam. First part mostly a run, but then a great ending with lots of controls, change of direction and tricky route choice. Made two mistakes and lost maybe 2 minutes.

Monday Feb 26

Running Rough 35:00 [2]
Run along the beach at UBC.
C • log esthetics 1
Intervals Hills 10:00 [5]
4 repeats up the stairs. Around 2 minutes and 30 seconds each. Was faster and felt better than last I did these. But they are still brutal...
Running Smooth 15:00 [2]
Down the stairs and cool-down after intervals.

Saturday Feb 24

Running Rough 1:53:00 [3]
Run with Lehel and Thomas. First up Lynn Peak. We got to around the 800 m level, but then the snow got so deep that it started to be ridiculous. Then we ran north on the upper trail above Lynn Creek, back along the creek itself and finally up the stairs to Mountain Hwy.
C • Terrain run PS park Monday? 1

Running Rough 1:14:00 [3]
Run on Baden Powell in the dark with Thomas.

Wednesday Feb 21

Orienteering City/Park (wet) 26:10 [4]
Score-O style WET at Vanier Park. Minute and a half behind Thomas, who had a similar route.

Tuesday Feb 20

Running Smooth 1:15:00 [3]
Run with Nipen and Markez at UBC and Pacific Spirit Park.
C • 30K friday? 2

Sunday Feb 18

Orienteering City/Park 1:20:00 [2]
Placing and picking up flags for the SFU races.
Orienteering City/Park 15:51 [4] 2.2 km (7:12 / km)
Last race of the training camp. Lots of good route choice legs through the forest and ravines of Robert Burnaby Park. Hard to run fast in this area because of the climb. Legs really tired after a great weekend.

Saturday Feb 17

Running Smooth 5:00 [2]
Warm-up.
Orienteering City/Park 19:27 [3]
Partner exercise at Stanley Park. I had the odd controls on my map, Matt Hryciuk had the even. Forces you to map read all the time, as half of the time you don't know where you are going... fun!
Orienteering City/Park 15:42 [4]
Dogbones at Queen Elizabeth Park. I made a mistake in the beginning. The best choice was to start with 8A to 8B, but I ran to 1A first and then had to do 8 at the end which was a longer route.
Orienteering City/Park 15:39 [3] 2.7 km (5:48 / km)
Race at BC Children's Hospital. Didn't push very hard. I just made the map a few months ago...
Orienteering City/Park 30:00 [2]
Placing pin flags for the oterval exercise at BCIT Campus.
Orienteering City/Park 13:41 [4] 2.8 km (4:53 / km)
Race at Queen's Park. An area that doesn't have too much technical challenge, but the course had some fun twists and turns. Tried to push hard with stiff legs.

Friday Feb 16

Event: Vancouver Sprint-O Training Camp 2007

Orienteering City/Park 17:30 [2] 2.6 km (6:44 / km)
Warm-up race on the UBC map. Took it easy. Runny nose.
Orienteering City/Park 14:45 [4] 2.6 km (5:40 / km)
Race at Acadia. Very tricky residential area, which is great for sprint orienteering. I ran pretty hard, even though recovering from a cold. It was so much fun to have all the fast guys around for the camp. I did well, but part of it is that I've run in this area before. One control got stolen, but that didn't cause me too much problem. I looked for maybe 10 seconds and then decided to move on.

Wednesday Feb 14

Orienteering City/Park (wet) 35:00 [2]
WET at Champlain Heights. Ran very slow with a pretty bad cold.
Running Smooth 20:00 [2]
Picking up flags.

Saturday Feb 10

Running Smooth 50:00 [2]
Jogging around SFU campus to check the map.

Wednesday Feb 7

Orienteering City/Park (wet) 32:34 [3] 4.7 km (6:56 / km)
WET in the Camosun area, at the edge of Pacific Spirit. Having a mild cold and a mildly pulled hamstring, I took it very easy. Dark and foggy, not easy to spot the flags. Great pizza party after the training at Don's house.
Running Smooth 15:00 [2]
Jog with Charlie, picking up some flags.

Sunday Feb 4

Running Rough 1:20:00 [2]
Run together with Thomas and Louise. From Andrea's house, on the Baden Powel, over to Rice Lake area and then some forest running.
Intervals Flat 20:00 [4]
Different short, fast, runs to investigate the effect of different surfaces on the running speed in sprint orienteering.
Running Smooth 30:00 [2]
Some jogging between intervals.

Thursday Feb 1

Running Smooth 25:00 [2]
Warm-up.
Intervals Flat 16:40 [5]
Intervals on a grass loop in QE park, with Thomas and Louise. Did 5 repeats, around 3:20 each.
Running Smooth 15:00 [2]
Cool-down.
