| Orienteering Forest race (middle) 52:24 [4] 7 km (7:29 / km) | ||
| Local race in Kamloops on a map called Grasslands. No trees at all, just hills and grass. Interesting and beautiful, but not my favourite kind of orienteering.
Felt very weak physically. After a kilometer, I had no more power and struggled the rest of the way. Over 10 minutes behind Thomas, not good...
| Orienteering City/Park 17:18 [4] 4 km (4:20 / km) | ||
| Sprint training at Riverside Park in Kamloops. Two loops, one was 2.2 km and the other was 1.8. Felt a bit better in the afternoon. | ||
| Running Smooth 15:00 [2] | ||
| Picking up controls after the sprint training. | ||
Wednesday Sep 27 | ||
| Orienteering City/Park (wet) 25:57 [4] 4.2 km (6:11 / km) | ||
| WET on the sprint map at Camosun. Mass start with a really strong field this time, Nipen, Markez, Zwicky, Foubister and Johansson. Group was together for the first half, then Nipen and Markez pulled away. With a quarter to go, Zwicky turned on the afterburner in the chasing group and Johansson tried to follow... unsuccessfully. | ||
| Running Smooth 30:00 [2] | ||
| Picking up the flags. | ||
Tuesday Sep 26 | ||
| Running Smooth 15:00 [2] | ||
| Warm-up. | ||
| Running Rough 15:00 [3] | ||
| Run in the sand at the beach. As beautiful as ever on a warm summer-like evening, with the sun setting and the view of the mountains and downtown. | ||
| Intervals Hills 8:00 [5] | ||
| Belmont Ave. I sure struggled today. Maybe still affected by the tetanus shot. I don't know... did 4 repeats before I had to give up.

| Running Smooth 20:00 [2] | ||
| Cool-down. No owl attacks this time... | ||
Sunday Sep 24 | ||
| Orienteering City/Park race (sprint) 18:45 [4] 3 km (6:15 / km) | ||
| GVOC Sprint champs on a brand new sprint map around the aquarium. It was amazingly inspiring to run on this map, it felt like a completely new area with all the detail.
I had felt like crap yesterday, having a fever reaction to the tetanus shot I had to take because of the owl attack last week. I didn't run super hard and made 1 minute mistake at 3, so was surprised to win, 10 seconds ahead of Thomas and Robin who also made mistakes.
| C • Cool! 4 | ||
| Orienteering City/Park race (middle) 55:14 [4] 7.9 km (6:59 / km) | ||
| Long distance club champs on the old Stanley Park map at 1:10000. A running race with some route choice decisions. Thomas is in way better running shape than me at the moment, so I was 4 minutes behind him, but I still felt happy, given my fever reaction the day before. | ||
Wednesday Sep 20 | ||
| Orienteering City/Park (wet) 22:50 [4] | ||
| WET at Cates Park. 3 loops, lots of controls and intense map reading. Terrible weather with heavy rain. Bear walked right by the picnic shelter we were using! | ||
| Running Smooth 25:00 [2] | ||
| Picking up the flags after the training. | ||
Tuesday Sep 19 | ||
| Intervals Flat 16:00 [5] | ||
| Intervals at the Musqeam trail loop. Did these alone, which is a bit hard, but I wasn't too slow.
3:09 3:11 3:10 3:12 3:08
| Running Smooth 40:00 [2] | ||
| Warm-up, cool-down and in between intervals.
Got attacked by a big owl on the way back! It came from behind with its talons on my head 3 times and actually drew some blood... bizarre...
Sunday Sep 17 | ||
| Running Smooth 2:10:00 [3] | ||
| Long run in Squamish to see if there was any terrain there to map in an old lava flow area. Ran on a nice smooth trail to get up there. It turned out to be very rocky ground in the lava, with valleys and ridges. Climbing and scrambling and not possible to run really. | ||
Wednesday Sep 13 | ||
| Orienteering City/Park (wet) 33:00 [4] 4.2 km (7:51 / km) | ||
| First WET of the fall season! Nice new map out at UBC by Louise. Course went down to the beach and it was a fantastic sunset with golden sun and dark storm clouds moving in. | ||
| Running Smooth 30:00 [2] | ||
