Got sick starting Thursday afternoon, nauseous and a low fever. Knocked out on Friday and not feeling great over the weekend.

Placing controls for first day WJR at Newcastle Island, plus a few for day 2. Very very challenging to hang flags on that map without checking sites first. Was out there for a long time but set the GPS for auto-stop so the time is a fairly good estimate of the the time I was actually moving.

Out in the evening again, switching some sites for day 2, plus hanging more new day 2 controls. One control where the map showed a large boulder, I simply could not find any boulder after quite a bit of searching in the salal so gave up and removed it from the elite course.

Robert Burnaby race as part of the OAK junior festival. Tried to push, but had to walk some uphills. Some good route choices and a good training to go a bit harder. Warm and sunny day... is this LA or something? No need to check the forecast, just burning sun every day for weeks and weeks.

Easy run up to BP with some off-trail sections. Body felt light after tapering lately (i.e. being lazy) and running felt great, though the pace was pretty low.

Star training on the magic part of Black Magic, with Adrian Z. Tried to go very straight without compass, reading the map detail and going fairly fast. Super nice!
