Hiking 3:00:00 [2]

4 powder runs from the Elfin Lake cabin in the morning. Deep new snow from overnight and great views. It was really hard to climb back up the hills in the new snow. Later, a 2 hour ski to get back to the car.

Hiking 3:00:00 [2]

Telemark back country skiing up to Elfin Lakes. Lots of climb with really heavy backpack. Once we got to the cabin, did a few runs in the powder and skinning back up the hill was hard work.

Running Smooth 10:00 [2]

Warm-up before Stanley Park event.

Orienteering City/Park 36:56 [2] 5.7 km (6:29 / km)

Stanley Park event. My first running since October 9. Took it easy, obviously, to try out the knee. It certainly feels different than the good one. No pain, but something is there...might be just normal weakness. Will see how the knee feels tomorrow.

This is my first training activity of any kind since Thanksgiving, due to the patellar tendonitis. I read a great note on this injury by the team doctor of SNO, and he said that if you can see that the the tendon is visibly wider on one knee compared to the other, that this is considered a severe inflammation that will require 3 months of rest. This seems to fit well with my case. The tendon on my right knee is clearly wider than on the left, still today after over 2 months of inactivity it's visible. It's clearly not healed yet, but I hope to be able to do some skiing without making it worse.
