Running Rough 15:00 [2]

Warm-up, jogging up the hills at Six Mile, to get to the hub of the star exercise.

Orienteering Forest 43:00 [4] 5.0 km (8:36 / km)

Star exercise at Six Mile at Savona. Like this map much better than Grasslands. More trees, more technical. Wonderful day, sun and crisp air. On the first loop of the star, I smashed my head hard into some root stock of a dead tree as I was ducking under a tree branch. It was a pretty hard hit and there was blood immediately, but there was no deep cut. Lost a few minutes assessing the damage.

Running around on the map after the star exercise.

Orienteering Forest race (middle) 52:24 [4] 7.0 km (7:29 / km)

Local race in Kamloops on a map called Grasslands. No trees at all, just hills and grass. Interesting and beautiful, but not my favourite kind of orienteering.

Felt very weak physically. After a kilometer, I had no more power and struggled the rest of the way. Over 10 minutes behind Thomas, not good...

Orienteering City/Park 17:18 [4] 4.0 km (4:20 / km)

Sprint training at Riverside Park in Kamloops. Two loops, one was 2.2 km and the other was 1.8. Felt a bit better in the afternoon.

Orienteering City/Park (wet) 25:57 [4] 4.2 km (6:11 / km)

WET on the sprint map at Camosun. Mass start with a really strong field this time, Nipen, Markez, Zwicky, Foubister and Johansson. Group was together for the first half, then Nipen and Markez pulled away. With a quarter to go, Zwicky turned on the afterburner in the chasing group and Johansson tried to follow... unsuccessfully.

Picking up the flags.

Running Smooth 15:00 [2]

Warm-up.

Running Rough 15:00 [3]

Run in the sand at the beach. As beautiful as ever on a warm summer-like evening, with the sun setting and the view of the mountains and downtown.

Intervals Hills 8:00 [5]

Belmont Ave. I sure struggled today. Maybe still affected by the tetanus shot. I don't know... did 4 repeats before I had to give up.
