Orienteering Forest 1:12:00 [4]

Joined the classic Sunday training at the Linköping OK club house. This is a straight orienteering course with proper flags and SI timing. Started together with old friend perma (who won the Canadian Champs 2005 when he came over to visit) and I kept up with him for the first few controls. As he ran away from me I started to navigate more myself, which wasn't entirely easy without a compass in the flat, indestinct and green terrain. I did mostly ok, and had lots of fun with the control picking in better terrain around control 6 to 10. I then got totally stuck in a terrible marsh with blown down trees, that could rival even the nasty Vancouver terrain. After 11, I cut the course short to 16 and 17 and then the finish. Fun to meet all the old friends!

Running Smooth 43:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:47 / km)

Run around the village Fornåsa with the locals, Tomas and Tobbe. They ran pretty slow so I did an extra loop. After that, sauna and a beer!

Orienteering Forest 1:11:00 [3] 8.1 km (8:46 / km)

Orienteering training at Ryssbergen, close to my mum's place here in Nyköping. F*ck, the terrain is good here! Did not have a compass and felt like Pasi for the first 30 minutes, nailing everything in the detailed terrain. Then started to hesitate more on the last half, sometimes feeling pretty unsure about the direction I was running, when I lost touch with the map once in a while. It also got really dark and that didn't help... the daylight is really short here in December.
