Sunday Jan 21 #

orienteering 1:17:18 [3] 9.1 km (8:30 / km) +210m 7:37 / km

Regional Event, West Woods, Marlborough.

Struggled to get going after 4 hr drive. Very wet and heavy going, but at least it wasn't snowing. Mostly pleasant woods, a bit brambly in places but all pretty straightforward. Lost maybe 30 seconds leaving #8 in the wrong direction, although that was mostly down to trying to avoid brambles. Stood still at #18 for 15 seconds before I spotted the control below ground level. Many depressions and pits. Very slow uphills and through the heavy terrain. Lots of wandering about the line to avoid the brambly bits.

18 minutes behind Ben Chesters. Beaten by an M55 but I beat Lucy Butt.

I was delivering Martha's belongings to Reading, figured this was sort of on the way. I hadn't allowed for the snow en-route which meant I was behind schedule.

Saturday Jan 20 #

running 59:56 [3] 6.5 mi (9:13 / mi) +200m 8:25 / mi

Slow in the mud. It was all mud.

Friday Jan 19 #

hill intervals 25:00 [3] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

4 x Dunny Hill. Predictably rubbish (I'm still coughing away) but better than expected really.

2:03; 2:09, 2:16, 2:23.

Dead on the last one. 4 was plenty.

Thursday Jan 18 #

running 27:23 [3] 3.3 mi (8:18 / mi)

Parkside and Weetwood.

Wednesday Jan 17 #

running 47:25 [3] 5.75 mi (8:15 / mi)

Adel Church. Started off steady, really struggled through the middle part of the run, then picked up again towards the end. Hopefully on the mend.

Note
(sick)

Captain Hindsight says that yesterday's run was a bad idea. Feeling rough.
