hill running 1:20:40 [3] 7.0 mi (11:31 / mi) +300m 10:10 / mi

Headed for the Dales with Evie. Grassington, Grass Wood, Conistone Dib, Dales Way like we did on Boxing Day. Evie suffered a bit of an energy dip after we left Grass Wood and struggled for five or ten minutes, then picked up again. We just plodded steadily back and were a handful of seconds quicker than last time.

Still feeling bloated and struggling a bit.

running 47:00 [2] 4.7 mi (10:00 / mi)

Spen Lane and Adel. Started off slowly and not feeling too good - a combination of having to breathe very cold air and feeling bloated. I wasn't too bad up to the top of Spen Lane but got slower and slower on the way back, worrying about the contents of my belly exploding one way or the other. Not good.

Aire lamppost score from the Hyde Park. Started steadily, and it's not very good for your flow when you have to stop and write down lamppost numbers. I got into it once I left the crowds behind and headed into Woodhouse - I think I was doing this bit in the opposite direction to everybody else so I didn't see any other runners for about 15 minutes. Then Meanwood Road and finally the ridge but things started to go wrong here. I had only charged my light for 20 minutes and when I turned it to full power to go into the woods it objected and I had to turn it down to low again. Cleverly I had left the woods until the end. It was a bit tricky. The worst thing was standing right in front of my last control in the woods and somehow not being able to see it (it was against a graffiti covered concrete wall so that wasn't helping). I only saw it when I climbed past it and looked back. That cost me at least 10 seconds, and then I sprinted for home and finished 10 seconds late. Bah.

Anyway, got a nice map that nearly reaches my house, which was the only reason I went really.
