Note
Brotherilkeld, Esk Hause, Great End, Scafell Pike, Scafell, Brotherilkeld. Mainly wet and a bit windy. Visibility was down to about 30m along the high bits. Not convinced I actually found the top of Great End, couldn't see anything. Kept losing he path between Great End and Scafell Pike and getting stuck in boulder fields. I went for the Foxes Tarn route between Scafell Pike and Scafell but wasn't very sure where I was going. I had a 30 year old 1:40000 Harvey's map, and a 60 Year old sketch map courtesy of A Wainwright. The sketch map eventually pointed me in the right direction but I wasn't very sure as I scrambled up a gully with ankle deep water underfoot and more water pouring on my head. Anyway it was right and just as well because I was getting a bit wobbly around ghat point because I hadn't taken enough food with me. Survived and got back down to Eskdale in one piece but very very wet. 5.5 hours, 12 miles maybe god knows.
