Speed and Strength 1:00:00 [4] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Speed. Strength.

Usually I do these sessions a bit half-hearted and not wanting to overdo things, but this time I just went for it on all the exercises. I was even trying really hard on the plank and v-sit which I really can't do because I have no abdominal strength.

warm up
6 mins of 2 fast/1 slow lap of about 150m
short rest
6 more mins of 2 fast/1 slow
20 secs squats/10 seconds rest/ 20 secs lunges / 10 seconds rest x 4
20 secs plank/10 seconds rest/20 seconds v-sit (?)/ 10 seconds rest x 4. Beginning to fail by the third set, failed completely on the 4th.
short rest.
10 mins of v short sprint relay round the 150m circuit - 5 to 10 second flat-out sprint every 30 seconds or so.
warm down and stretch.

Very DOMS.

Butcher Hill, Newlay, Kirkstall road route. Feeble.

running 52:00 [4] 5.75 mi (9:03 / mi)

Adel Church, 8 x 3min/1min. First 4 were ok, really struggled on 5,6,7, picked up a little bit on 8. Overall not too bad.

Swimming 35:00 [3] 0.4 mi (1:27:28 / mi)

Mostly leisurely 28 lengths. We were there for Evie's benefit really. Well tired.

orienteering 56:40 [4] 5.2 km (10:54 / km) +300m 8:27 / km

Not feeling at my best before I started, I found yesterday a bit stressful and it was a long day. Started off ok though.

#3 . I misread the re-entrant before the control as a knoll, partly because the circle cut off the mouth of the re-entrant, and partly because my eyes were doing this unaided. -45 seconds

#6 Winsplits says I lost time but I was just slow up the hill I guess

#7 Mostly found a good line for this, just got caught up in a bit of bracken trying to contour across one of the hills at the start of the leg. Spiked the control no problem.

#8 walking all the way up the hill

#9 I went straight more or less, but it was rough getting across the crags and into the re-entrant before the control. Tasha went up and round this re-entrant and was relatively quicker. -30 secs.

#10 not sure about my route but it was pretty quick running all the way, I didn't get caught out anywhere

#11 Meandered through the marshes looking for good running and ended up left of the line. Quickly got myself back on line. -30 secs.

#13 No problem finding the control but was body checked and slammed against a tree by Mark 'Chopper' Saunders as I tried to exit. -2 seconds.

Could have been a little bit quicker but quite happy to be leading old man and 3rd place on the course. Charlie would have been maybe 5 minutes ahead of me if he hadn't missed a control out.

orienteering 50:00 [3] 5.0 km (10:00 / km)

YHJS training, Skipwith. Mostly a nice day, beautiful area to run in. Lots of bearings practise. A bit of shadowing and a bit of collecting controls and finally setting out the clockstar relay. Went ok I think.
