I really shouldn't have been racing today, since I was just rid of (kind of) a terrible cold that I had for the last 12 days, but who could resist a championship race in downtown Berlin on the first spring weekend after this unusually long winter.

The plan for the quail was to run slow and safe and it worked perfectly! I think the total mistakes was less than 5s:) However, what should (normally) have been an easy pace was a struggle to maintain and I could probably only have pushed it with a few seconds in the end if I had to...

Orienteering race 17:35 [5] 3.7 km (4:45 / km)

I had some hope that the quail should have tricked the body into racing mode, but that turned out to be in vain. The plan was to start running a notch faster (but one slower than normal racing speed). I felt from the start that I should be hard to maintain it and at #14 it turned into a struggle to not lose to much speed (can easily be seen on the last splits, that was just running).

Also made a few small mistakes (too much for such a straight forward course):
#1 ~5s Over ran in it.
#15 ~15s Wrong route choice (first instead of second bridge) ~10s and had to backtrack a few meters after taking the wrong trail in an intersection (~5s).
#18 ~10s Ran to far to the right and corrected it to late.

Hard to say how much I lost on running, but I hope I normally can run (at least) 30s faster.

Anyway, still happy I went even if I wasn't really competitive. It is cool to see how fast the best guys are.
