Orienteering race 49:27 [4] 5.97 km (8:17 / km) +215m 7:01 / km

German Middle championship (WRE) 14/59 (9.00 behind)

This was a disappointing race. Started out screwing up the first control. Came straight to the reentrant but didn't see the control behind a tree. After some hesitation I decided maybe I'm in the reentrant ~150m before, continued contouring and came out to the road SSE. Had I just looked on my compass I would have realized I was running 90 deg. off... Lost ~80s.

After that I tried to do it safe, but hesitated to much. Also the unusual low run-ability for germany, made it feel slow and I never really got into a good racing mode, losing unnecessary seconds the whole way.

To #9 Felix caught up with me, or I with him (he was supposed to start 2min before me but missed his start with ~5min(?)) and then I lost some focus and misread my attackpoint clearing. Ran around randomly for a while looking for the control but decided fairly quick I had no idea what I was doing and headed north to the forest road with the tower and attacked the control from there. Lost ~2.5min.

Felix caught up again(?) to #17 and then we kind of raced it in to the finish. Even that couldn't really get me into racing mode and I lost with ~3s.

It was a great course, disappointed that I could not do better, hopefully revenge tomorrow.

Orienteering 15:16 [4] 3.0 km (5:05 / km)

5. Dresdner Sprintserie 2013

Forgot "half" of my stuff this morning when I went to work... Borrowed Jan's running shoes, thanks Jan! The running felt great today. Never really got tired and could probably had pushed it a bit more, but with the competitions coming up this weekend I didn't want to do that.

Was not really focused initially, and made a few to many small mistakes to be really happy:
#1 ~5s Very hesitant and probably picked the wrong route.
#4 ~15s Hadn't checked exactly where the control was and got confused.
#5 ~15s Hesitated, but in the end took my planned route whcih wasn't good from where #4 actually was.
#10 ~10s Read the clue sheet to late and took a suboptimal route.
#12 ~5s Didin't see the narrow olive green between the parking spots before I was just in front of it and had to make an unnecessary detour.
~10s Had a slow SI-stick and lost ~0.5s/control
