Orienteering race 48:48 [4] 7.32 km (6:40 / km)
Saechsische Staffelmeisterschaft
Unfortunately only 4 teams and all TU, one H16, one H20 and two H21(+), with the last three made to be roughly equally good to get some competition. We barely, managed to win it with a few minutes after two solid legs by me and Thoto and an impressive last leg by Torsten. The H20 team took second place with a few seconds after a nice sprint to the finish line by Julius.
The courses were 3-forked 5 times! I think that is way to much when there are so few teams, you miss a lot of the relay feeling. Consequently, no one had the same course, but all forkings were fairly comparable, except one that I think was substantially faster, since it didn't have some controls in a big green area (I didn't have that one). My course was the fastest by 1.17:-).
I ran 1st leg. Ran with Wieland halfway to P1 and Markus P2-P6, the rest alone. Had been out pretty late the night before (BRN Neustadt), but took it easy, so was unsure if that would affect my performance. I don't think it did much, was running okay and was focused for most of the race, apart towards the end were I made some stupid mistakes. Apart from those two I felt I was a bit unlucky, losing some seconds in the circle many times, partly due to a diffuse map, mainly vegetation boundaries but also contours. Many of the point objects were rot stocks and only some of them mapped. All mistakes:
1. ~15s Problem keeping the direction.
2. ~15s Very hesitant. The map was very diffuse I hadn't really got used to it.
3. ~20s Really off with the direction initially.
9. ~15s Bad control approach.
10. ~15s Bad control approach.
13. ~15s Problem keeping the direction.
15. ~40s Control approach.
16. ~30+30s Wrong route + I didn't really agree with the mapper in the circle.
17. ~100s Terrible control approach. Came to my AP but didn't use it and ended up on the road behind the control.
