Orienteering race 46:16 [5] 7.3 km (6:20 / km) +350m 5:07 / km

DM-staffel 3rd leg 5/25 (+3.17) Team: 2/26 (+5.31)

Silver medalists! A great result and really nice to achieve it with Floh and Wieland!

Floh ran a nice first leg finishing 3rd 2.20 behind. Wieland followed it up with a solid race, handing over to me in 2nd, 2.32 behind 1st place and 1.32 ahead of the 3rd.

Was a bit nervous and had problem to get into the map reading in the detailed terrain to #1. Knew I was a bit to far to the right and decided fast to bump of the road behind the control to not lose to much ~30s. Felt heavy running up the mountain #2-4 and kept doing small mistakes and started to worry I would screw it up completely. On the long downhill road running to #5 I started to get into it and #5-8 went really well. With the confidence up I attacked #9 (a bit to optimistic in hindsight since the area was poorly or weirdly mapped?) Stood 5m away from the control but didn't see it and lost ~1.30min. On the climb up to #10 I saw Christoph P. ~30s behind. Luckily, this was what I needed and from here I ran fast and (almost) perfect to the spectator control. I kept looking back roughly every other minute, but never saw him again. On the last short (~600m) tricky loop, I had problem reading the details of the map in the heavy rain. Focusing on the basics I avoided any mistakes to speak of and finished alone in 2nd place! Very relieved seeing the last control and my cheering team mates.

Orienteering 17:07 [5] 4.3 km (3:59 / km)

DD-Sprintserie 5. Lauf

Not at all focused today, Luckily it was a straight forward course, so no major mistakes, but I screwed up in the circle several times (#7,9,10,14,19), 2-5s on each. Read the control description! The running felt good, but a bit longer warm-up would have been nice.
