Orienteering race 1:13:25 [4] 10.2 km (7:12 / km)

H21L (Total) 61/188 434.08 (86.41 behind)

H21L (Stage 5) Chase start 53/182 (11.25 behind)
Results: http://www.obasen.nu/winsplits/online/sv/default.a...

Started in place 73 almost 25min from top50 and not very motivated. Caught up with the guy who started ~25s ahead of me at #1 and saw him to #6, where I think I passed a few others. Lost ~1min to #3 after a 90deg exit error and being really confused for awhile. Luckily it was close to the other feasible route choice.

Caught up with another competitor at #9 and we stayed together to #21. Got some help from him when I overran #19 keeping the mistake down to ~30s. Lost a few seconds here and there but nothing major, but not very fast. Saw Erik Memmi (bästa halläning :-) ) on my way into #21, was roughly ~30s behind and tried to push hard to #22. Got it just before Erik and another guy and continued pushing hard to get a gap. Got it and could take it easier in the finish chute.

Had two guys ~30s ahead of me, then a huge gap. One of them was the only one who passed me on this stage, but I never saw him on the course. 21 min to top50 and 47min to top25, that probably would have been a tough goal also under normal circumstances. My guess is that I normally would have been 30-40 min faster over the 5 days.

Orienteering race 33:18 [5] 4.9 km (6:48 / km)

H21L (Stage 4) 41/184 (3.39 behind)

Middle distance, first day I tried to start in real race speed. Lost a few seconds here and there but was overall very happy with the first 2/3s of the race. Got tired in the uphill towards the end and had to slow down. Maybe due to this I got sloppy with my aps in the end and lost ~45s each on #14 and #15. 1.11 away from top25.

Orienteering race 1:39:05 [4] 11.6 km (8:32 / km)

H21L (Stage 3) 73/188 (23.27 behind)

After the rest day I felt motivated for some good races, top 25 was of course out of the question, top 50 looked tough but possible, so that was my new goal and maybe with a top 25 stage finish.

Started faster than before but lost ~45s to #2, problem with keeping the
direction. Still, I caught up with the Finnish guy who started a minute
ahead of me. He was somewhat slower than me but we stayed around each
other for awhile due to my sloppy navigation. It was good to have him there
to remind me about how one does this:-) Missed ~2.5min on #6, from my ap,
and ~3min to #8 bad route choice, after that it went better and I got into
racing mode. Got sloppy on the easier controls in the end ~2min each on
#16 and #18, missed aps and ~30s on #17, bad route choice.

My stomach sickness was gone but hadn't been able to eat properly and was
pretty weak. Started out even slower than the first day, but was able to increase the pace somewhat during the race. Unfortunately to many mistakes, not focused enough:
#1 ~2.5min, miseed my ap (and bad route choice).
#5 ~2min, overran a trail a junction....
#6 ~3.5min, overran it, easiest control on the course....
#14 ~1min again ap
and some smaller things

Orienteering race 1:51:36 [3] 12.1 km (9:13 / km)

It is always hard to know beforehand what goal to have at O-ringen. I was hoping for a top25 finish. With no superelit class this year, that looked like a challenging goal.

H21L (Stage 1) 86/189 (26.27 behind)
Results: http://www.obasen.nu/winsplits/online/en/default.a...

This was not just the first race after the injury I got 5 weeks ago, but also the first time I ran fastish for a longer time. I was fairly sure the injury was healed and wasn't worried about that, but obvious I was unsure about my shape. I decided to start slightly slower than normal and focus on safe navigation.

Went a bit wiggly to #1 and lost ~45s, but caught up with Bjorn and a another guy. Tried to break away by going up to my normal competition speed on the long leg to #3, but felt directly that that was to fast. Missed ~2.5min to #4 and ~1min to #5 due to sloppy attack points. Felt really tired already on the long leg to #7 and had to slow down even more. Missed ~3min on #9, again screwed up the attackpoint.

Going up on the last mountain I started to feel really bad and basically had to walk all of it, I even had to sit down and just breath for a few seconds, that is very rare in a race:-) If it hadn't been the first day I would have dnfed. I'm happy I didn't and i avoided puking until after I finished. No mistakes on the hill and luckily one didn't lose to much time walking there thanks to all cliffs. Out on the flat fast forest the last kms I could at least jog, but lost ~90s on #16, spiked it but misread the code number....
