Orienteering Event:
Hillsborough, Pits of Despair B-meet
orienteering race 1:11:52 [4] *** 4.7 km (15:17 / km)
spiked:10/12c weight:54.8kg (injured) shoes: Olway Tigers #2
Pretty good race on the pits of despair map.

I caught up to all the runners that started before me on #1; I had started 12 minutees back. I realised then that I was running awsome.

#3, this adventure racing dude and Graham followed me into the control. I saw Graham was hurting & I knew that Daniel still has difficulty with the map. So then, I looked at the route choice & saw the long trail witch was the best & decided to BOMB IT. As expected & planned, the two saw me, a girl, blast in front of them & ran after me. We were running so fast in that trail, dodging things, breathing hard. They saw the control before me & passed me.

#5; At this point, I was still ahead in the game. I took a different route choice then the other two. Lost Graham. Hit Daniel again in the field. He looked really comfused ( my plan had worked!), so I sneaked quickly past him & ran on to the control.

#6; this sucked, I took the route choice along the logging area in the woods, witch was clearly the worst. Was getting really uneasy & moving really slow. I was considering turning around & taking the longer route on the trail but I was too far in. This cost me time. When I hit the trail, I was exactly where I wanted to hit it. I saw Graham running off, he had gotten the control, I had lost my lead. For some dumb reason, I ran up the trail & cut threw. I hit the other trail that was curvy. Realised it after I saw David attacking the control from the bend. I did the same & saw this massive pit that didn`t seem to be well on the map. weird area...

#8; Got caught up in the pits of despair, pits & pits & sink holes!! So dangerous, I was moving along the edge of the cliff, got caught in deep green pit area.. BAD! The map was off where the control was, there was like 3 spures & the map only showed one. I lost more time here.

Well those are just the interesting bits of my race. I ended up second overall course 4 ( if i put myself with the guys do to lack of female participation). Graham beat me by 5 minutes.

Saturday Sep 23

running long (LSD (long slow distance 1) 1:42:00 [2] 15.3 km (6:40 / km)
slept:7.0 weight:54.8kg shoes: asics GT-2100
LSD

Ran by the chocolate river, it was really beautiful out there this morning, the sun was shinning on the brown mud & it was great to have some mother & daughter time.
I think we saw over 20 perdrix.. hum.. I have no clue what that is in english. It kinda looks like a chiken.. ish.. and it runs like an austriche, at least I think it does. When you bump into them in the woods they chase you while going GLOGLGOLGO. yeahhh..
It was pretty cold out this morning, I think we even had frost last night... winter has come.

Tried razz gel from Cliff Shots.. nastiest thing ever, couldn`t get it down. Carb Boom is so much better.
Note
(injured)
One or two of my mid back verebras are really hurting. It hurts to the touch, a bit swollen & it hurts when I move.

I had hurt my back, in spring. I was teaching a handicap child in a wheel chair swimming lessons. After the lesson, I would pull him out, twist & lean forward into the chair to put him in it. After a while it went away, but it lasted a good month.

This time, it might be because I have really increased my training & the pounding of running may of done it. Or maybe it`s bad posture

Just couldn`t seem to keep my time steady. My legs felt heavy & sluggish. It`s probobly because it was really windy out and also because I ate horribly yesterday. Back to Pasta!

Monday Sep 18

running intervals 57:49 [5] 8.1 km (7:08 / km)
shoes: asics GT-2100
Interval session took place in Centenial park.

Warm up(ran to the park): 19'32''13

Ran 250 m intervals on a gravel road. As soon as i was done the distance i`d run the recovery part on a single track making me work on concentration & in the same time give me a bit of a terrain run.

49''99 (250m) interval
4'21''99 (320m) recovery in single track
50''78
4'14''11
50''85
4'37''49
49''88

Couldn't manage to get close to my PB 45''21 from last week. Maybe it was because of the intense heat since I have allways had trouble in it ( 24 degrees!!) & also because I ate right before my run.

Cool Down(run back home): 21'42''46

Not one of my best training sessions, but I`m happy it`s done & over with.
