| NAOC Long distance race - F elite
Pretty good race considering it was my first time running in this category. I am satisfied about the physical part of it but the orienteering part sucked out. #1: Took a bearing from the corner of the trail with no attackpoint into the control resulting in missing it & hitting one on the men`s course. #3: The first of the tree SUPER long legs on the course. Route choice was questionable. Probobly should of cut the trail corners but wanted to get a good running pace in. Took a bearing from the trail bend in. Again, had no real attackpoint but got lucky when I saw the men`s course control & stopped to look around and noticed the feature I should of been looking for as an attackpoint. #7: Didn`t see the small trail across the marsh so ended up taking the further big one up. Route choice wasn`t the best, going left was way faster then my route. #9: Messed up, took a bearing, ended up hitting the trail bend and was surprised. Didn`t properly relocate when I went back in. Went back to the trail RELOCATED (finally..) then spiked the control. #11: When I saw this leg, I though OMG. This thing was huge! There was the option of cutting through the marsh, witch I should of done or taking the LONG LONG trail around. I took the long trail around because I was to chiken to go through the marsh. A phobia I now have since my near drowning experience in a swamp on my first night-O at the US Champs at Pineland Farms (BTW thanks whoever pulled me out!!). So the long leg ended up being SUPER long because of whimpy route choice. I also had trouble because the control was set in an intricate trail network. I couldn`t make any sense of it. #12: Got lucky, sort of ran in the general direction & relocated really close to the control. Stupid trails... Even with all the stupid mistake`s & super dumb route choice I still managed to be very happy with my race. At the beginning of it, I felt very nervous since it was my first time running F-Elite & the last quality long race I had run was JWOC and that was horrible. In the end, I finished within 2 hours & I am happy with that for now.

| NAOC Sprint distance @ McMaster University. Great race overall, made a few stupid mistake`s.
#1: nothing too major, just sort of got comfused over tha map scale. My attackpoint to the control seemed really normal to what I thought it would be. #3: Spectator control. There was too many trails to keep track of so instead I just looked for the flower bed as my catching feature & ended up running right by my control. +30-45 secs? #5: The obvious route choice turned out to be really sketchy. There was a black line on the map witch was sort of a wall but you could go around it. In real life, there was a whole in the middle of the wall where everyone went through. #11: Didn`t expect it to be on the wall. #15: almost ran right by the alley I wanted to go through then hesitated since i didn`t realise my control would be in a corner down stairs. Came 14th out of 23 in F-Elite. I am pretty proud of myself. Need to work on reading ahead and getting a flow .Stopping at controls is lame!
