10 minutes from home I got drenched absolutely drenched :( and it was really cold cold cold rain. Didn't warm up enough to take off the linebreaks or the thermal brrr

My shirt was still really wet and yucky this arvo so I just wore the thermal and it was quite hot on the ride home. Dryish and not too cold though which was nice :)

After a late dinner with quite a few drinks it was quite a slow morning. Dad had spent a lot of the evening saying how good a mt biker he was but somehow he didn't remember any of those conversations this morning.

A nice ride up Gungin, down through a few trails and then back up but just staying on the Munda Biddi. Nice morning to be out riding bit chilly to start with though.

My bike is getting really crap, I have pointed 3 sprockets on the back and I have to be really slow when pulling away from traffic lights etc which is real annoying.

Bike is now booked in for a new cassette and chain next Thursday so only 1 more week of slipping gears :) it'll feel like a new bike.

Quads, calves and my left knee were sore today, so just took the puppy for a walk/shuffle this morning - tried for a jog but the legs wouldn't be in it.

Adventure Racing (Killaavon) 4:14:27 [4] 66.0 km (3:51 / km)

Arrived earlier than I usually would so that I could get my mapboard on my bike properly as the last few times its come loose which makes the bike nav a lot trickier. It worked coz it didn't come loose which was good.

Leg 1: Mt Bike
Got the 2 controls ok but rode past the turnoff to the TA - I thought the path was too early so kept riding - worked it out but had lost time and did a bit of extra distance just for fun. Hard slog up the hill to the TA.

Leg 2: Orienteer
Started out fairly end of the pack after my special route choice to the TA. First 2 controls no issues, almost low to the 3rd but caught myself on the bare rock, next few were ok then a few issues at 7 where I lost contact with the map and slowed to try and work it out before just deciding to run on and relocate, next few were ok bit of a slog up the hill to 11 not done particularly well, bit off bearing to 12 but corrected and ok.

Leg 3: Bike
Fun leaving the TA and ok until I got out onto the road and then it was a long hard slog. Got to a sign which said "Muresk Seed Farm" and wondered if I was supposed to go down there but kept going and got it ok.

Leg 4: Micro-gaine
Took ages to get into this and changed my shoes which was silly - just got the 8 you needed - 6 of which turned out to be 2min bonus and 2 1 min so did pretty well out of that in the end.

Leg 5: Bike
Long ride but luckily it was with the wind and there was a few downhills too. Skipped the optional controls, got 21 ok but then took a very faint single track along the river and didn't find the bridge. Stuffed around a bit in here where I should've just headed out to the track and relocated. Got it a fair bit after the main group as I saw them riding the opposite way, 23 was ok and then I just opted for the road to Northam.

Leg 6: Quiz rogaine
When I came in to transition there was a blue and black Yeti on the fence and I thought bugger, Jen must've overtaken me while I was stuffing around with 22. Thought ohwell and went out to A first, then off to G, F, H, at some point I realised that my route choice hear sucked a lot as I then doubled back to get C, B then J. Could've got more controls with the same distance if my brain had been turned on earlier.Legs were pretty buggered by now and were glad there was no more running left.

Leg 7: Mt Bike
Followed Jen out of transition but then decided it was worth getting the optional hill control so struggled up there. Missed the beginning of the Kep track so I had to throw my bike over a fence and then the pipeline which was a pain. Rode the whole way up the hill to 25 which I was pleased with but legs were empty and just spinning. Really struggled with the next section to 26 legs were empty, I had my last shot and just hoped I would make it back. Still moving ok though as I was catching pairs. The downhill from 26 was good fun!!! and then really nice to find more downhill on the way to 27. Stopped at the bridge before 27 but got going eventually. Saw Jen again here and made it my goal to overtake her before the finish. Just made it with an extra burst near the end.

It was a tough race and one that I'm not really fit enough for atm. The exercises at Muresk and Northam were good fun and the orienteer was really nice. The long bitumen bike legs were tough especially as I seemed to always be not really near any other people on these legs so didn't get to do any drafting. Still it definitely felt like an achievement finishing :)

Lots of bike maintenance today - my crap bike because it was covered in sand after riding to/from work on Friday in the rain and my good bike because it had a flat front tire again I did put tire liners in it this time so we'll see how they go tomorrow

And a really cold slow wet ride home. Only rained for a little bit but the roads were really wet and yucky. Having clothes and shoes that were still damp from the morning plus no gloves or socks on as they were soaked still didn't make it any warmer either

Went along for the last Tuesday running session (for a few years at least) rocked up 30 mins late coz the traffic was hellish due to the rain.

Didn't know where the session was - thought 5km tt but didn't see them as I drove past, Decided to warm up anyway - checked Kalinda nup noone there, oceanic nup and then saw a few shadowy figures running at the bottom of reabold rear - ahah got it!

Ended up doing 2 threshold reps and 2 hard reps
2.06, 2.06, 2.00, 1.55

Not very fast but still good to do something.

Almost didn't get out there today with yet another flat tire :( tubeless is definitely looking more attractive.

Another mt bike finding new trails out near the dell. Not sure of the time/distance but when we were going up Gungin for the 2nd time today and the 4th time for the weekend my legs had definitely had enough.

Lots of big mt biking groups out there on the commonly used trails but hardly saw any one on the newer ones which was nice.

Mt biking out a jarrahdale. Rode the 6hr loop, pretty good fun loop, lots of singletrack :), the loop joins up lots of tracks that I hadn't ridden much which was good.

Run out and back along the river. Legs were getting pretty tired near the end, showing up the little running training I have been doing. Got overtaken by a guy about a km from the end and tried to lift to stay with him but he still pulled away. However about 500m further down he stopped and walked and I overtook him.

Note

Tried my first plasma donation today. Hgb was 144 which is the highest its ever been :) Blood pressure 126/75

I was fine when the blood was going out but then felt really faint when it was coming back in so they stopped it.

Not sure if I'll try again or not.

Was pretty clean through most controls. Attackpoint shows me having time losses at 3 and 12. 3 I didn't think I'd done particularly badly but 12 I screwed up by running to the rocks above and then I stood around for a while working things out.

Tracy came past me at the beginning of the long leg and then Vanessa at then end, felt like I lost time on this leg just because I was scrappy through the bushes and slow up the hill. Lost some time at 13 as I just couldn't make myself run over the hill and I came over late and had to go back to the control.

Still kept incontact with the map pretty well and no horrendous errors just lots of stopping to take bearings etc, and crap on the hills too.
