orienteering competition (Elbow Bluffs) 1:22:44 [2] *** 6.44 km (12:51 / km) +252m 10:45 / km
shoes: Icebugs Zeal-L OLX

trouble with the first control - things just weren't making sense. Nicki came through and found it - I hadn't gone far enough. Lost 2+ minutes. Saw her again at #3 and glimpses at 4&5 but then she dropped me. Bearing was off on #8 for some reason so lost ~3min. Otherwise not too bad and really fun to get out! The city was foggy and snowy but out there it was dry and clear :)

Ran into a tree while dodging under a spruce... My head felt wet, so headed back and the blood was running down my face by the time I got back to the hut! However, a gynecologist and GP dealt with me admirably :) Just put pressure on it, no, you don't need stitches :) It's surprising we don't get more of this kind of injury!

the walk to the long start - halfway up the mountain!

orienteering competition race (BCOC long) 1:47:51 intensity: (50:10 @0) + (31:36 @1) + (26:00 @2) + (5 @3) **** 6.11 km (17:39 / km) +184m 15:20 / km

VERY physical, and significant elevation gain even though we started high on Blackcomb. Lost time at #4 (thought the clearing was on top of a spur for some reason...) and poor route choice to #9 (should have run the road). Trouble reading Lost Lake - 1:7500 would have been better! Interesting map high up on Blackcomb
