Today it was just Dad and I as Mum found out she was on call a bit after she was meant to be in at the hopital. I sat on the bonnet of Dad's blue car for a while while lots of other Four Wheel Drives came down the car-road. Everyone lined up to start and so I grabbed Dad's hand and walked over to the people. I could see the sea so thought we were going to run to the beach - but Dad said that we'd go past the beach and do another 2km before we went to the beach.
This time when the man said "GO!" I didn't cry, I ran! I like running. Then walk for a bit? Then running! We ran all around the grass bit as I pulled Dad along. This was my longest run yet in one go. Then we got to a veh-ree grassy track and we walked as it was a Bit narrow. Dad said it was halfway through and there was a sand hill and I wanted to run up that and we did! Then, on the other side was a dowwwwwn hiiiilllllll - I like downhill running. At the bottom were some orange toadstools so we stopped and looked at them for a bit.
The last bit was down the fence on a firebreak to the finish and we walked lots - until Dad went in front of me and ran around like he'd scored a soccer goal in the Italian domestic competition - that looked like fun so I started running again. Just before the finish it started raining so we ran the last 25m across the grass. Then a nice man came up and spoke to Dad and said that I couldn't be in results as I was only 2 and they've had problems with children under 6 being members before. Dad said "That's fine, just put my name down instead." That confused the man and he said "We don't want to encourage young children to be members so he can't be in the results." Dad looked at him a bit funny, smiled, and said "That's fine - we don't mind, Edmund just likes joining in with us and coming for a walk - make it unofficial, we don't care". Then the man said "He needs to be with someone on the course." Dad laughed at him and said "He's two years old and holds my hand most of the way and we stop and look at flowers!".
Dad said we'll keep going and keep doing the events and it doesn't matter the slightest that my name can't be in the results because I'm only two. It was funny seeing the man expecting an argument and not getting one and then being all confused about what the actual problem was!
Dad came 3rd!
