Bike bike bike 1:10:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:50 / km)

I'm used to Dad dropping Mum off in the middle of nowhere, like on the Nullabor with her bike, or Mum picking sweaty Dad up in the middle of nowhere like off the Bibbulmun track near Greens Pool, but today was my turn to see what fun happens. Dad pulled over somewhere on the way to Denmark and Mum and I got our bikes off the back of the car and then rode the rest of the way to Denmark on the (ed)Munda Biddi trail. We found the estuary and a tunnel for a creek. Just when I was getting a bit tired we got to Denmark and I knew it wasn't far to the adventure playground so I sped up for the last k or so. We found Dad and Ruth playing by the river then I had a sleep while we drove to Walpole. I'm going to need a bigger bike soon!

Adventure Racing 24:00 intensity: (3:00 @3) + (18:00 @4) + (3:00 @5) 2.0 km (12:00 / km)

I lined up with 150 other kids, most of them were big kids 7,8 and 9 but I wasn't worried as I've done 2 other races and lots of string courses. This was my first race by myself! Last time in January with Mum we stopped to play and I didn't really want to run into the finish - but I'm a lot older now.

The first bit was an 800m run - 400m uphill on the golf course fairway and then 400m back down the single track. We all started really fast... For about halfway up the hill, then it got a bit tiring. I wasn't at the back though and I was in front of a lot of big kids :-). Then I found my bike in transition like Dad told me to, run to the last rack and along to the second pole. I put my helmet on by myself then ran to the exit - you're Not Allowed to ride your bike in transition and I'm good with Rules.

The ride was a bit hard - it was uphill to start but then on gravel single track back down with lots of corners and bumps. We've got a gravel track at home in our garden so I rided this fine. From the bottom of the carpark it was uphill all the way back and my legs were really tired - do you know my bike has no gears?

Afterwards I had 3 cups of water and then got dad to take me to the beach so I could run on the beach and play on the granite rocks. We stayed at Jess' house and just like at home I was in the top bunk - and I had a really good sleep.
