I was sooo excited at the start of this run, and when the man said "ready, steady, GO!!" I WENT!! and ran through the field passing all the walking ladies and grumpy teenagers to the first orange flag. After the first flag there was a loooong downhill singletrack with lots of rocks and jumps. Some people injure themselves on that sort of terrain, I've heard, but I just ran and ran and jumped over the rocks with barely-controlled speed until we got to the bottom. Then there were some ladies who thought I was just GORGEOUS and said "ooh look at his little legs!!" so I ran past them. After a while I decided not to run any more but we were halfway by then and apart from a brief sook when Dad ran away to get to his race start I enjoyed my walk.
When I spotted the cars and the submarines and torpedos at the finish line i ran and ran to the finish table.
We were just in time to see Dad start running, so I shouted "yeeeeeah Dad" and the ladies thought that was as cute as my little legs.
After only a few minutes dad ran past again and we cheered some more. And after a few more minutes mum said it was time to wait for dad to come through again. So we cheered for the fast man in the anaconda shirt and another fast man. Then we cheered for an old man who was quite fast. Then we cheered some gone-to-seed middle-aged men and some ladies, and then we cheered some teenagers. Then some old men and some ten-year-olds and some overweight ladies, and after a bit longer we cheered (slowly) some walking people.
By that time mum was getting a little bit worried about the lack of dad but I didn't mind. Anyway dad came back in the end, from the wrong way and hopping on one leg. Funny Dad.
