Sage Stomp Long.
Almost all of my lost time was on #1, #2, #3, and #4.
I took the direct route off the corner of the exclosure, through the gap and down to the indistinct track in the green. I had a hook at the end and don't understand why/how. I think the trail to the right is easier and faster so I would have set #1 more to the south to take that option away.
I think #2 was mishung. Probably just on the edge of the circle or maybe a bit outside. Took a while to find it because I was certain my route from #1 spiked the reentrant.
Sloppy and a bit discouraged to #3 and #4.
Took #5 from the white gap south of the marsh and then direct. Didn't consider the northern route through the saddle.
Went north on trails to #6. Avoided the direct line because of the green slash in the reentrant before the control.
#7 has many options. I went NE on the track almost to the road and cut through the clearing and crossed the road to the E-W track. Took the southern option and contoured into the control. I think the more northern track presents a more difficult attack. The southern route on the road , up the track and attacking from the fence is also viable. Not sure which is best but I was happy with my route.
#8 was probably too cautious at the start because I ran the track all the way to the road. Crossed the shallow saddle and then a narrow bit of green and crossed the reentrant just north of the green marsh. Angled below the cliffs and along the spur. A more direct route through the cliffs north of the road might have worked better but I couldn't decide if I dared tackle the green blobs.
#9. Down to track in green then south and climbed SW through saddle and down to track near the lake. Contoured a line or so above the lake and crossed the greenish reentrant when I could see the rock features on the northern hill.
#10. Got too high because I was trying to decide best route to #11 and did not pay enough attention. Relocated from the hill top and had to scramble down into the control.

Afterwards I had a talk with Alex about his upcoming surgeries on both knees. I am now decided that I am going to get on the list and will ask for a referral on Thursday.

Great weekend with good courses, good terrain, good weather and good friends!

orienteering 52:37 [3]

Training event at Sabbiston. Slow to #1 and got sorted when i realized i was close to the road. Good to # 7 where I missed the eastern track--probably too low but maybe just ran over it. Relocated from lower track.

Sabbiston Middle. An excellent course planned by Magnus, Alan and Jacquie. Even though I have been on the map a lot controlling and course setting, I did not find myself thinking "I've been to this spot." The angles were different enough that I needed full on concentration.
Good all the way to #7 ( even though I ran about 50 mts on a 180 from # 3 before I came to my senses.) At #7 I was concentrating on the route to #8 and drifted far to the east. When I got sorted I stood on a cliff in the circle for many seconds before someone punched 10 mts away. #10 was a short but deceptive leg and I stopped for a long time in the reentrant north of the right spot. Coming out of #9, I misread the hills and thought I had come to the correct reentrant.
