Orienteering race (NavDash ECU Joondalup) 26:13 [4] 4.66 km (5:38 / km)
ahr:169 max:185

Was suffering from jet lag by the time I got to the strange new world.

Once again wasted time at the start finding the start triangle on the map and working out where I was. Confused the bendy bit of building to the west of 4 for the one to the north of it wasting more time. Stuffed around trying to find a way through to 6. Couldn't visualise what I was looking for going into 9 but found it without too much delay. Same mistake as everyone else for 10. Fletch came down between the buildings on the way to 11 going the long way to 10. Kinda chasing Fletch through to about 18 or 19 taking some different routes along the way. Had no ability to visualise where I was going for 22 and the finish, luckily running around like a wild goose worked nicely.

I think I need lots of practice reading maps on the run and to work out when I should be reading the map. But at least I survived the expedition to a foreign land.

Road Bike (Commute) 1:33:40 [3] 47.24 km (30.3 kph)
ahr:164 max:253

I think that may be a new record for a dodgy max HR reading

Anyway didn't have much impulsion to get going this morning and after laying on the lounge for a while ended up leaving a little bit late.

Had a long sleep shirt on, but legs and fingers were pretty frozen crossing the great plains of Oakford, finally got to the freeway and a bit of sun seemed to warm things up sufficiently.

Plodded all the way, thought I spotted a green speckled Dalto south of Canning Hwy. Caught and sat behind another plodder along the drag strip, when the HR got a bit too low doing about 31kph Iwent past him and he sat behind for a while doing about 33-34kph, eventually he came past and upped the ante to 40kph, so I just went along for the ride till I turned off at the far side of the narrows. More plod the rest of the way after that.

Road Bike (Commute) 1:38:56 [3] 47.8 km (29.0 kph)
ahr:164

Bit blowy heading south from the narrows, was settling into a long haul home when someone came past and I jumped in behind. Took a turn on the front heading into canning bridge (since most sprinters seem to bail out there), he was still on after going under the bridge and I was happy when he went to the front, but not so happy when I had to work really hard to stay on, then he turned off at the next freeway overpass, bloody sprinters.

Cruised the rest of the way down the freeway before heading down the long dark road the rest of the way home. How long till it will still be light all the way home again, can't wait, not that I don't really love dark and cold and wet rides.

Running long (Champion Lakes) 1:40:32 [3] 18.08 km (5:34 / km)
ahr:158 max:170

Decided on a change of plan for the free time whilst Ryan's at kindy. So started my run from the kindy and headed for Champion Lakes.

Once I got to the lake I figured I should be able to fit in 3 laps to make about 20km all up, but after a stop to utilise the facilities on the island I decided 2 laps should do, to make sure I got back to the kindy on time.

Ended up padding out the end with some random running around the reserve and oval next to kindy to make it up to 18km.

Dead flat all the way and was pretty bored for the first half a lap around the lake, but somehow forgot I was bored along the way, maybe the wind a rain distracted me the couple of times it came through.

Next time a better option may be to head for the hills, looks like I could get to Roleystone for the same distance .. aaaarghhh

Road Bike (Floreat Renegades FULL) 1:27:00 [5] 46.0 km (31.7 kph)
ahr:172

Made it through another full ride. But forgot to stop the watch till I was back at the car, so will need to edit the time once I can look at the GPS track.

Was going OK until Karl upped the pace heading south of Leighton and I was really struggling to hang on, was off the back by the time we got to the tight right hander and was lucky everyone got a long red light so I could catch up after the sprint.

Lead out on the descent before the golf course? climb then had zero impulsion to actually climb and got spat out the back. Things got a bit messy passing other groups heading down to the next climb and didn't really get regrouped till after CCGS.

Went out the front again going up another hill, but coming off the back may not be the best plan, everyone was (un)kind enough to let me think I may hold out till the top, but then they all came through leaving me floundering out the back.

Completely knackered trying to keep up with Chris and Dalto heading back out to Floreat and I was lucky to get back on a couple of times. Can probably expect to put in a very dismal effort tonight, or really hurt trying to hold things together.

Running (Crazy pine loops) 59:26 [5] 9.01 km (6:36 / km)
ahr:157 max:188

3 x crazy pine loops, hard up the 4 hills, slow recovery in between, 1 min rest in between loops.

Didn't take splits the first 2 loops last loop was
Hill 1: 3:37
Hill 2: 0:18
Hill 3: 1:51
Hill 4: 0:26

Started off with Wil and Luke, Will dropped off seemingly distracted by timing issues at the top of the first hill. Can't remember what happened from there, but ended up running with Tooms, Jo and Luke the last lap after catching Tooms (your only a Dad not a Grandpa yet) on the second lap after dropping off the back early on the second lap.
